GF Automotive is now GF Casting Solutions, a division of the Georg Fischer AG, with its headquarter in
Schaffhausen, Switzerland is a worldwide recognized supplier of cast components and partner for development
projects for the global automotive -, aerospace, industrial gas turbines and for industrial applications
with 17 production sites in ix countries (Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Romania, China, USA). The
core business is the development and production of complex cast components in iron, aluminum and
magnesium and investment casting as well as Additive Manufacutring. Each solution is designed according
to its special needs.
Lightweighting in the automotive industry - just one of
our expertises: During the last few years, the weight
reduction of vehicle components has played an increasingly
important role in the efforts to reduce fuel
consumption and therefore CO2 emissions.
For the development of the cast components, our engineers
in the R&D department benefit from the freedom
of design. The wall thicknesses can be adjusted depending
on the special requirements, few limitations
are placed on the geometric design and all the necessary
parameters are known up front, so that the solution
can be checked and approved by means of simulations
and calculations before the serial production
starts.
With bionic design – which means that we design the
shapes of the component inspired by nature – we optimize
the component to the fullest extent. Through the
complex process and multiple design adaptations, we
achieve up to 50 % weight reduction at still the same
performance and functionality of the component.
Whichever material is chosen for a component, the
casting process has the potential to significantly reduce
weight. Iron, Aluminium or Magnesium: GF Casting
Solutions is one step ahead in material know-how.
GF Casting Solutions offers a broad variety of technologies
including tooling, aluminum and magnesium
high-pressure die-casting as well as iron sand casting.
In both casting technologies, we offer multiple different
alloys with almost all kinds of characteristics. In
our global production network, we can provide cast
components of many different sizes all over the world.
Furthermore, we can offer a high added value such as
machining, coating, laser cutting and assembly. We
continuously optimize our processes.
