<strong>Tersus</strong> <strong>Training</strong> Services are a Health & Safety training<br />

provider, specialising in <strong>Asbestos</strong>, Petrol Retail and general<br />

Health and Safety.<br />

Operating within the <strong>Tersus</strong> Group portfolio, we have access<br />

to industry experts within the health and safety training<br />

services sector, which gives us the ability to create<br />

programs that will allow individuals to not only qualify but<br />

excel in their professions.<br />

We use a mix of dedicated training centres – often colocated<br />

with our consultancy and laboratory businesses –<br />

and hired venues, as well as on-site training, to ensure we<br />

can deliver the training when and where you need it.

Awareness<br />

Aims & Objectives<br />

The <strong>Asbestos</strong> Awareness course provides delegates with information<br />

and guidance on how to ensure they avoid risks and exposure to<br />

<strong>Asbestos</strong> Containing Materials (ACM’s).<br />

- Introduction & Overview<br />

- Types of <strong>Asbestos</strong> and their properties<br />

- The effects of <strong>Asbestos</strong> on workers health<br />

- The uses of ACM’s in buildings and how to recognise them<br />

- <strong>Asbestos</strong> Regulations<br />

- The employers and employees responsibilities<br />

- Emergency Procedures<br />

Target Audience<br />

The <strong>Asbestos</strong> Awareness course is aimed at trades personnel,<br />

supervisors and trainees who will be exposed to ACM’s in their day to<br />

day role.<br />

UKATA CAT B Working with<br />

Non-licensed <strong>Asbestos</strong><br />

Duration<br />

1 Day<br />

Aims & Objectives<br />

The overall aim of this course is to enable delegates to handle and<br />

remove non-licensed asbestos safely, whilst being made aware of the<br />

implications if not done safely.<br />

Course Content<br />

- Risk Assessment & Plans of Work<br />

- PPE, RPE, Equipment section & Maintenance<br />

- Control measures & removal methods<br />

- The disposal & carriage of asbestos waste<br />

Target Audience<br />

This course is aimed at delegates that will knowingly be disturbing lowrisk<br />

ACM’s, for example maintenance workers and supervisors who will<br />

carry out asbestos sampling and analysis.<br />

Pre-course Preperation<br />

An <strong>Asbestos</strong> Awareness CAT A certificate is required, prior to taking this<br />

course<br />

Certification<br />

Successful delegates will receive a UKATA <strong>Asbestos</strong> CAT B Certificate


UKATA CAT B Working with Nonlicensed<br />

<strong>Asbestos</strong> (Refresher)<br />

Duration<br />

1/2 Day<br />

Aims & Objectives<br />

The overall aim of this course is to deliver updates on existing<br />

knowledge that delegates have and the tasks that they undertake in<br />

their daily activities.<br />

Course Content<br />

- Operations and preventative controls<br />

- Control limit/air monitoring<br />

- The non-licensed work with asbestos process<br />

- Record keeping<br />

- Decontamination procedures<br />

Target Audience<br />

This course is designed for delegates that have undertaken their UKATA<br />

Approved working with non-licensed asbestos training within the last 12<br />

months are hoping to renew their training.<br />

Pre-course Preperation<br />

Anyone wishing to undertake this training course must have the relevant<br />

prior knowledge from their previous non-licensed asbestos training to build<br />

upon.<br />

Certification<br />

Successful delegates will receive an up to date UKATA CAT B Certificate


Duty to Manage<br />

Duration<br />

1 Day (Includes <strong>Asbestos</strong> Awareness)<br />

Aims & Objectives<br />

The objective to this course is to provide the delegate with a basic<br />

understanding of the legislations of CAR 2012, with specific reference to the<br />

Duty holder. The course aims to make the Duty holder aware of the surveys<br />

that are available, what to expect with a survey and the asbestos management<br />

plan and its use and requirement<br />

- Introduction – Why manage asbestos?<br />

- Defining Duty to manage<br />

- Legislative requirements<br />

- Types, risks and locations of ACM’s<br />

- The surveys and their use<br />

- The survey report and register<br />

- Dealing and working with ACM’s<br />

Target Audience<br />

The Duty to Manage <strong>Asbestos</strong> course is aimed for those who manage nondomestic<br />

premises: the appointed person that is responsible for protecting<br />

others who work in such premises or use the premises in other ways, because<br />

of risks to ill health that exposure to asbestos causes.<br />

Certification<br />

Delegates that successfully complete this course will receive a UKATA<br />

<strong>Asbestos</strong> Awareness CAT A Certificate and a TTS Duty to Manage Certificate.


<strong>Asbestos</strong> Awareness for<br />

Managers<br />

Aims & Objectives<br />

The overall aim of this course is to provide the principal contractor<br />

and/or the site manager with an understanding of their requirements to<br />

manage asbestos removal contractors, analysts and surveyors.<br />

- Introduction to <strong>Asbestos</strong><br />

- Types of <strong>Asbestos</strong> and their properties<br />

- The health effects of exposure to <strong>Asbestos</strong><br />

- Types of ACM’s and uses in buildings<br />

- Emergency procedures<br />

- Duty to Manage in buildings<br />

- <strong>Asbestos</strong> Surveying<br />

- <strong>Asbestos</strong> Removal, enclosure and decontamination<br />

Target Audience<br />

This course is solely aimed at management e.g. principal contractors,<br />

site managers, warehouse managers etc. whom will be in control of the<br />

management of ACM’s.<br />

BOHS P402<br />

3 Day (Including 1 day exam)<br />

Aims & Objectives<br />

The overall aim of this course is to provide the delegates with a solid<br />

understanding and practical knowledge of locating and identifying ACM’s as well<br />

as teaching the delegates how to safely take samples of the materials for<br />

analysis.<br />

Course Content<br />

- Introduction to <strong>Asbestos</strong><br />

- Planning <strong>Asbestos</strong> Surveys<br />

- Undertaking <strong>Asbestos</strong> Surveys<br />

- Methods of sampling for different types of ACM<br />

- How to produce reports in compliance with HSG 264<br />

- How to incorporate risk assessments and make recommendations to their clients<br />

- Formative Practical Assessment; Written Theory Exam; Written Practical Exam<br />

Target Audience<br />

This course is solely aimed at <strong>Asbestos</strong> Surveyors.<br />

Pre-course Preperation<br />

Delegates are advised to read the HSG 264 compliant and have a minimum of 6 months<br />

<strong>Asbestos</strong> surveying experience.<br />

Certification<br />

BOHS Proficiency Certificate in Surveying and Sampling Strategies for <strong>Asbestos</strong> in<br />

Buildings.

4 Days (Including 1 day exam)<br />

Aims & Objectives<br />

The overall aim of this course is to provide the delegates with a solid<br />

understanding and practical knowledge of identifying and managing ACM’s in<br />

buildings as well as providing a basic knowledge of asbestos removal<br />

procedures.<br />

- <strong>Asbestos</strong> Legislations<br />

- Management of <strong>Asbestos</strong> in Buildings<br />

- How to incorporate risk assessments and make recommendations to their clients<br />

- Role of Laboratory/Analysts<br />

- Practical work<br />

- Written Theory Exam; Written Practical Exam<br />

Target Audience<br />

This course is aimed at but not limited to principal contractors, site managers,<br />

warehouse managers, auditors etc. whom will be in control of the management<br />

and removal of the ACM’s.<br />

Pre-course Preperation<br />

Delegates are expected to be aware of the contents of The Control of <strong>Asbestos</strong><br />

Regulations 2012.<br />

Certification<br />

BOHS Proficiency Certificate in Management of <strong>Asbestos</strong> in Buildings.
