WHAT’S THE <strong>SMaxFab</strong> IDEA?<br />
SMax is a contraction of Sandi<br />
Maxwell.<br />
Fab refers to 2 things: her love<br />
of fabrics and the vibe of her<br />
surface pattern designs. FAB!<br />
The growing thought bubbles<br />
refer to the bubbling up of SO<br />
many ideas.<br />
<strong>SMaxFab</strong> starts with a blank<br />
space and ends with a fully<br />
conceived design.<br />
<strong>SMaxFab</strong> is an Australian based surface pattern design<br />
studio that creates patterns and stand alone designs, which are<br />
used to give life, energy, and character to surfaces.<br />
Sandi Maxwell is the owner and designer at<br />
<strong>SMaxFab</strong>.<br />
Inspired by unusual shapes and patterns in the<br />
natural world, asymmetry and the rhythm of<br />
multiples, Sandi starts with hand drawn designs.<br />
These incorporate abstract motifs from organic<br />
elements, clean colour combinations and simple<br />
geometric shapes. Original work is crafted further<br />
digitally into new layouts and colourways.<br />
Creativity flows constantly for her. “It’s a great problem to have,”<br />
says Sandi “...too many ideas!”<br />
Since completing a Diploma in Surface Design through The<br />
International School of Colour and Design in Sydney she has worked<br />
to expand her portfolio of surface pattern designs. Finalist in the<br />
Designer Rugs 2017 competition, her design was manufactured<br />
and included in their exclusive range.<br />
