Communications<br />

The new website is now under development.<br />

Andy Palanisamy, Communications Coordinator<br />

is transferring files from the old website to the<br />

new so that legacy files continue to be available<br />

to members. It is hoped to have it open for<br />

members to use by June 21 st .<br />

When the new website is up and running, Tom<br />

Kern and Patty Fusaro will act as website<br />

administrators. The new website will feature a<br />

blog-style section “Latest News and Events” to<br />

capture member contributions.<br />

The new website needs to be populated with as<br />

many ITS benefit, evaluation and cost knowledge<br />

resources and links as possible. All members are<br />

invited to send in their contributions addressed to<br />

Patty Fusaro at pfusaro@itsa.org .<br />

Management Committee<br />

The Management Committee (MC) conducts its<br />

business via bi-monthly telephone conference<br />

calls to plan events and generally advance the<br />

business of IBEC. Contact Tom Kern, IBEC<br />

Chair for information about the Committee.<br />

New MC Member Profile – Jianping Wu<br />

Jianping Wu studied Civil Engineering at<br />

Zhejiang University and University of Southampton.<br />

He is now a Professor of Transportation at<br />

Tsinghua University, China and a visiting<br />

Professor at the University of Southampton. He<br />

has over 20 years experience on ITS research<br />

and consultancy in the UK and China. His<br />

research interests include: i) Real time traffic<br />

data collection and analysis, ii) Driving behaviour<br />

study, iii) Traffic modelling and simulation, iv)<br />

Intelligent Transport Systems, v) Traffic pollution<br />

assessment and control. He has contributed to<br />

over 50 research and consultancy projects and<br />

authored and co-authored over 200 publications.<br />

He has extensive contacts at national and<br />

municipal levels of government.<br />

IBEC welcomes Professor Wu to the<br />

Management Committee.<br />

Annual General Meeting<br />

Orlando, Florida October 19, 2011<br />

The agenda included the Chairman’s report, the<br />

election of the Management Committee and<br />

officers, a review of lessons learned at the 18 th<br />

World Congress, a vote on the legal entity for<br />

IBEC, plans for the 19 th WC in Vienna and a<br />

report on communications. There were 18<br />

members present.<br />

Chair Keith Keen reported on the year 2011.<br />

Tom gave a brief summary of his goals for his<br />

term as chair including increasing membership to<br />

500 and to enhance IBEC communication<br />

services to members.<br />

Paul Vorster agreed to lead the organization of<br />

the IBEC events at the 19 th WC in Vienna in<br />

October <strong>2012</strong>.<br />
