Welcome Anglers,
As chairman of the 36th Annual Conde Cavalier Mardi Gras Fishing Rodeo and on behalf
of all the members of my staff and their committees, I would like to Welcome one and all to
Dauphin Island for what we hope to be the best rodeo ever.
I would like to thank all of our sponsors, friends and fishermen for their support and for making
this year’s rodeo the success that I know that it will be. Without your help and support; this rodeo could not
happen. Please take time to read this book and support our advertisers in return throughout the year.
This year’s leader board will include twenty-two different categories for
general competition. We have eliminated 2 categories from last year. They
are Wahoo and Shark. There are several inshore as well as offshore fish
available and we hope that you agree that there is a good balance of each. I
would like to offer a reminder to everyone that entries in the Redfish category
must be “within the slot”.
In addition we will continue our offering of three separate jackpots: Jack
Crevalle, Speckled Trout, and King Mackerel. All Jackpots are optional.
SHARK has been removed for conservation efforts.
Junior Angler Tournament:
This tournament will be separate from the regular rodeo (held at the same
time) and is open to all junior anglers age fifteen (15) and under. A separate
ticket will be required for the Junior Anglers. The tournament will award
prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in each of Ten Inshore Categories. There
will also be a prize for the overall Junior Angler based on a points system
(similar to Master Angler.)
JIM COMPTON
RODEO CHAIRMAN
All of this is in addition to our normal special awards for the Mystery Fish ,Lady Angler, Male Angler and the
$1,000 cash award for the Master Angler.
The rules of the rodeo and for the jackpots are printed in this booklet along with some interesting information.
Please take time to read all rules thoroughly.
Have fun at this year’s rodeo and remember the rules of good sportsmanship. Obey all state and federal laws and
most important – BE SAFE!!!
The rodeo headquarters will open at 10:00 a.m. on both days so everyone come by and tell us about “the one that
got away”.
Finally, I would like to offer a special “THANK YOU” to all members of the Rodeo Committee, Your many long
hours of service has not gone unnoticed by me and by others. In case I haven’t said it enough “Thanks to each of
you for all your contributions”.
Good Luck and Tight Lines to everyone!
