HEROES
2018 Annual Report

The year 2017 brought an increase in the number of officers killed
in the line of duty with 135 law enforcement officers losing their
lives. Of that number, traffic-related incidents claimed the lives of
forty-seven officers over the course of the year.
The Foundation’s Mission
Statistically these fallen officers were forty-one years of age with
more than twelve years of service in law enforcement. Often, the
officers were also veterans of our armed forces. But the sobering
reality is that these men and women are not just statistics; they
are sons and daughters, they are husbands and wives, they are
parents—on average, each officer left behind two children.
The Gallagher’s Heroes Fallen Officer Fund is dedicated to the sole
mission of providing immediate financial support to the families
of fallen officers. As soon as the tragedy occurs, the Foundation
reaches out to the family with direct monetary assistance that is
swiftly delivered with no strings attached. The goal is to serve
the survivors’ urgent needs without expecting the family to wait
weeks or months for formal assistance to become available. The
Foundation is careful to provide the support directly to the family,
not third party organizations.
A complete list of the officers whose families have been helped by
the Gallagher’s Heroes Fallen Officer Fund can be found on our
website: www.GallaghersHeroes.org.

Annual Report for 2018
Since its inception in June of 2010, Gallagher’s Heroes Fallen
Officer Fund has been able to support 631 families. Due in part
to this success rate, Gallagher’s Heroes Fallen Officer Fund was
recognized with the 2011 President’s Award from the Southeastern
Crime Stoppers Association. While gratifying, this award is
important in the role it serves to raise awareness of the Foundation.
In spite of its success, the Foundation has not always been able to
reach a family member. Therefore, awareness is vital to the success
of the Foundation’s mission. The ultimate objective is to contact
the family of every fallen officer and provide immediate assistance
to that family.
Given the history of the Foundation, the excellent track record and
the importance of the mission, several goals have been established
for the coming year:
• greater awareness – the radio audience of The Mike
Gallagher Show is widely aware of Gallagher’s Heroes Fallen
Officer Fund and is very supportive of the Foundation.
However, long-term success is dependent on a greater
awareness among the law enforcement community and
the nation at large. Ensuring that local authorities and
communities are aware of the Gallagher’s Heroes Fallen
Officer Fund will enable the Foundation to successfully
reach the family of every fallen officer. This awareness will
also enable the Foundation to continue to attract and retain
donors at all levels of participation.

• improved coordination – when local law
enforcement agencies and associations are faced with
the tragedy of a fallen officer, they should immediately
think of Gallagher’s Heroes Fallen Officer Fund. The
second goal for the coming year is to better reach
these associations and law enforcement agencies
with materials that communicate the Foundation
and clarify the goal of supporting the families with
immediate financial assistance with no strings
attached.
families affected by the line-of-duty death of an officer.
Through the care and generosity of our supporters, the
Foundation has made a real and memorable difference
for 631 families in numerous states and throughout all
levels of law enforcement (local, state and national). But
we are not content with these results. We plan to grow
both awareness of the Foundation and its reach into the
community. The Foundation continues to support families
but is also striving to expand the amounts and methods of
support offered.
• continued growth of donor base and financial
resources – the Gallagher’s Heroes Fallen Officer
Fund succeeds because of its donors and corporate
sponsors. Long-term success will require continued
support and the growth of the sponsor list. Simply
stated, the Foundation can only succeed with help
from donors and corporate sponsors who are willing
to meet the financial needs of the Foundation. Since
June 2010, the Foundation has been able to provide
over $2,230,000 in immediate assistance to the
families of fallen officers. The goal for the coming
year is to continue to support every family facing this
tragedy and to expand the support available through
the Foundation.
The Gallagher’s Heroes Fallen Officer Fund relies on
donors and sponsors in order to provide support to
At the core of the Gallagher’s Army Fallen Officers Fund are
the communities that demonstrate daily their love and concern
for the officers and the extended family of law enforcement.
Mike Gallagher’s popularity and his deep involvement with
these communities provides a perfect conduit for carrying the
dedication of these communities to the Thin Blue Line.
There are many individuals and companies to thank and our
appreciation is extended to them all. We are especially grateful
to the S.C. Children’s Theatre and the City of Greer, SC for their
extraordinary efforts. It is our hope that their example will inspire
others to develop creative ways to honor our heroes and support
our mission.
Community Support

Planned Giving
While the most common method of supporting Gallagher’s Army
is through direct cash donations, we also ask that you consider a
leaving a legacy of support for fallen heroes and the family they
leave behind. Through the Gallagher’s Army Planned Giving
program, you can establish a means of continued support for the
law enforcement community. Please consider one of the methods
below as you contemplate your donation.
Charitable Gift Annuities
Charitable Gift Annuities are a common and IRS-approved
method for giving that also helps you boost your retirement
income. Annuity rates are fixed for your lifetime and you may
benefit from several tax advantages, depending upon how you
fund the annuity.
Will & Bequests
Including the Gallagher’s Army Fallen Officer Fund in your
Will is one of the easiest ways to remember the sacrifice of our
law enforcement heroes. Please consider including us as one
of the charities in your Will, trust or estate plans.
The simplest way to make a gift is to add the following language
to your Will, naming the Gallagher’s Army Fallen Officer
Fund as beneficiary: “I give, devise and bequeath ________(a
certain sum, a percentage of the estate, or the remainder of the
estate) to The Mike Gallagher Show Charitable Foundation,
350 Fifth Avenue, Suite 4710, New York, NY 10118 for the
Gallagher’s Army Fallen Officer Fund.”
Trusts
Trusts are an excellent way to plan your estate that offers
several advantages. With a trust, your estate avoids probate
unlike with a Will. Like a Will, gifts through a trust can be
made in a fixed amount or as a percentage of your estate. Gifts
in this method can also be left as a residue after gifts to loved
ones.
Gifts of Securities
Your appreciated securities can also be donated to Gallagher’s
Army. Through a defined process, you may transfer shares to
the Fund. We in turn sell the securities and add the proceeds
to our operating fund. Depending on your tax situation, this
may allow you to bypass capital gains tax and increase your
charitable deduction. It is important to follow the process
exactly, so please contact us, and your financial professional,
for further information.
Life Insurance
Life insurance policies that are no longer needed make good
sources of gifts to Gallagher’s Army. You can simply name
the Foundation as the primary beneficiary of the policy. Your
charitable deduction depends on the status of the policy,
whether it is paid in full or if premiums are still due. A gift of
life insurance is a simple way to provide meaningful support.
Personal Memorial Gifts
Many people make gifts in memory of loved ones to charities
and important causes. We encourage you to consider making
a gift in honor of someone or for a special occasion, such as a
birthday or for holiday greetings. Upon receipt of your gift, we
will send a note of recognition to whomever you.
For more information on planned giving or to establish any of these
types of gifts, please contact Joey Hudson, our Executive Director,
at 864-331-1973 or via email at jhudson@gallaghersheroes.org.
Thank you for considering the Gallagher’s Army Fallen Officer
Fund in your financial and estate planning.

A message to the law enforcement
community...
It is our sincere hope that your department is
never involved in the tragedy of a fallen officer.
But if the worst does occur, we want to be there
for the family of that officer. When you hear of a
tragedy that has occurred in your department or
within a neighboring force, please remember us
and contact The Gallagher’s Heroes Fallen Officer
Fund.
We understand that at these times the emotion
toll is quite high. We are also aware that many
well-meaning individuals and companies will
try to reach out to those who are close to the
tragedy. The Gallagher’s Heroes Fallen Officer
Fund contacts the family solely for the purpose of
providing immediate, unconditional financial aid.
But we need your help.
Understandably, the bonds in the law enforcement
community cause your fellow officers to close
ranks around the family in support and protection
of the fallen officer’s loved ones. We respect the
love and brotherhood shown in these times. We
seek only to find the families and get financial
support directly into their hands as quickly as
possible. We work closely with law enforcement
at the local, state and national level and we have
a strong, positive reputation with each family and
with each department we have contacted.
If, in the course of your law enforcement career,
you become aware of the tragedy of a fallen officer,
please make certain that we know about the
situation, too. Our mission is to help every family
that faces this challenge and to do so without
strings attached, forms to complete or weeks to
wait. Help us be a first responder to the need of
those families.
Please call us at 1-888-994-4483 or
Board of Directors

Helping someone in need is a rewarding experience. Helping
the family of a fallen police officer can inspire your life.
The Gallagher’s Heroes Fallen Officer Fund was founded by national radio
talk show host Mike Gallagher, inspired by the giving spirit of his late
wife, Denise. The mission of this non-profit organization is to meet the
immediate needs of U.S. police officer families when an officer has been
killed in the line of duty. The fund provides financial assistance to officer
families when they need it most - as soon as a tragedy happens - without
having to wait for weeks or months for other more formal assistance to
become available, and without the hassle of bureaucracy and red tape that
often exists.
Each year, over 100 police officers on average are killed in the line of
duty, and the financial burdens on the families are immediate and difficult
to handle. With the support of corporate sponsors, generous benefactors
and individual donors, The Gallagher’s Heroes Fallen Officer Fund can
respond quickly to help these families and become a first response when
they need it most.
Visit our web site at www.gallaghersheroes.org to learn more about how
this Fund is responding to the needs of fallen police officer families. To
