Mini-Maze seals provide low-cost sealing for machine
tools, conveyors, motors, compressors, and other industrial
machinery. Unlike conventional seals, there is no
temperature build up at high speeds. There is no shaft
wear. Why? Because the seal elements never touch.
Mini-Maze seals thrive in gritty environments. They seal
out grit, sand, abrasive dust and metal chips, while also
sealing in grease, air, oil, and water mists.
Typical Applications
1. Special Mini-Maze seal with custom inner ring.
2. Mini-Maze seal retains lubricant – excludes grinding
grits. Spindle speeds 3,000 to 30,000 RPM – bearing
lubricated by oil mist (or spray). Seals subjected to
momentary shock loads due to outof- balance
condition.
3. Double Mini-Maze seal arrangement with drain for
milling machine spindle. Seal retains lubricant and
excludes abrasives from bearing cavity.
4. Combination Mini-Maze and Lip seal; lip seal prevents
leakage of grease while Mini-Maze prevents abrasives
from contacting and wearing out the lip seal.
LABYRINTH SEALS
5. Two Mini-Maze seals mounted adjacent to each
other to protect and seal bearings.
6. Special Type M Mini-Maze seal installed in grinding
machine spindle to prevent entrance of cutting oil,
grinding grits, etc. into bearing cavity. Leakage
through the first labyrinth way is pumped back to
sump by peripheral grooves (similar to a gyro
pump).
7. Mini-Maze seal mounted in textile bearing assembly
to protect the bearing from lint, abrasives and other
atmospheric contaminates. Also retain grease in the
cavity.
8. Mini-Maze seal installed on turning lathe spindle to
prevent the entrance of metal chips and coolant into
the bearing cavity. Also retains grease lubricant.
9. Four Mini-Maze seals mounted in accessory gear
box on turbine. Operation conditions: temperature
+300°F max., speed 8,000 RPM and pressure 0-10
psi oil splash one side, water splash opposite side.
