AOBA Education
Committee Update
We are really pleased to announce
that Deb Hill is now Co-Chair
of the AOBA Education Committee,
along with Ian Prokop. Deb is of
course well known to all of us in the
alpaca world as a respected breeder,
teacher, lecturer, author, and contributing
member of the Education Committee.
In her other life, Deb is a full-time
elected Supervisor on the Coconino
County, Arizona, Board of Supervisors.
Our newest members, Donna Pointer
and Lynn Boak are on the National
Conference Planning Committee.
Deb Hill is spearheading the Alpaca
Producers’ Handbook project with
Carol Roberts’ able assistance. Carol
also is the author and originator of
Speakers’ Links (on the AOBA web
site). Laura Berry is very creative in
initiating the on-line Member Surveys.
Wayne Aldrich has been carrying the
load in assembling and maintaining
the many lists of speakers and topics.
In addition, everyone pitches in on
everything, with enthusiasm.
Due to the growing demand of conference
attendees who are new to the
alpaca business, we have a number of
popular conference presentations that
are updated and presented as appropriate
each succeeding conference. In

sions, we also have a smaller number of
intermediate and advanced sessions on
more specialized topics.
We welcome comments and suggestions
for adding new presentations and
to improve the presentation content at
each and every conference. You can
help us with this at the conferences by
filling in the Session Evaluation which
is handed out and collected at the end
of each conference session. Be sure to
write in your suggestions and comments
at the bottom of the form in
addition to checking the boxes. We also
welcome direct contact with Education
Committee members. The members are
all listed on the AOBA Members web
site and are easy to contact.
The Committee is always on the
lookout for new speakers, in addition
to new ideas for conference topics.
Speakers must be experienced and educated
on the topic(s) they teach. Topics
should appeal to a wide range of alpaca
industry members. If you would like to
make recommendations, contact any
member of the Committee.

The Education Committee has ongoing task of recommending topics and speakers
for the F2F and the National Conferences, with a lot of overlap in time and effort
to start the next conference planning even before the current conference is ready
to go live. This is an exciting environment in which to work.
