SPLASHING
AROUND
the still waters on Tallebudgera
Creek estuary. Local parents use
Tallebudgera’s protected areas
to introduce their children to
water safety.
BURLEIGH HEADS This gently
curving beach is protected and
offers magical views north to
Surfers Paradise from Burleigh
Headland. Distinctive pines and
pandanus palms frame the beach
and make the perfect place to
cool off from strong midday sun.
Burleigh Headland National Park
follows the coastline. In times
past, Aboriginal tribes feasted at
the headland and modern day
travellers will still be stunned by
its natural beauty. Famous for its
tubular Burleigh Barrel waves,
the beach is the venue for major
surfing tournaments. There are two
surf clubs, & a nearby shopping
precinct.
BROADBEACH It is known for its
wide expanse of sandy beaches
picnic areas and playgrounds.
Surf life saving is a focus on this
fabulous beach which has been
the home of the Australian Surf
Life Saving Championships for 10
years. There’s a vibrant shopping
and dining precinct and mall
within metres of the beach area
and regular beachfront craft
markets on the first & third
Sundays of each month.
passing Narrowneck where an
artificial reef has been created to
protect the expanse of sand from
big surf. Stop for refreshments at
the historic Main Beach bathing
pavillion or the Southport Surf Life
Saving Club.
