award honors Dr. Scott Mackler who is known for his excellence<br />
in teaching medical students, residents, post-doctoral fellows,<br />
nurses, and other Penn faculty in the area <strong>of</strong> substance<br />
abuse.<br />
Scott A. Campbell, MD and Theodore D. Satterthwaite, MD<br />
received the <strong>2010</strong> Dr. Henry P. and M. Page Durkee Laughlin<br />
Foundation Award. Upon the recommendation <strong>of</strong> the residency<br />
program, this award is given to residents in recognition <strong>of</strong> their<br />
pr<strong>of</strong>essional achievement, dedication, and scholarship<br />
throughout residency training. Founded in 1964 through the<br />
generosity <strong>of</strong> Hank and Page Laughlin, the Dr. Henry P. and<br />
M. Page Durkee Laughlin Foundation is based in Frederick,<br />
Maryland. For more than thirty years, the Laughlin Foundation<br />
has honored outstanding residents in psychiatric training programs<br />
throughout the United States and the United Kingdom.<br />
Lori A. Goldstein, MD was the <strong>2010</strong> recipient <strong>of</strong> the Psychodynamic<br />
Psychotherapy Award given by the Psychoanalytic<br />
Cluster Steering Committee. This award honors graduating<br />
residents in recognition <strong>of</strong> their excellence in providing psychodynamic<br />
psychotherapy.<br />
Kait Yulman, MSW received the Special<br />
Recognition for Service to Psychiatric Education<br />
Award from the Department <strong>of</strong> Psychiatry.<br />
This award recognizes Ms. Yulman’s tireless<br />
contributions <strong>of</strong> organization, energy, and<br />
affection to the Office <strong>of</strong> Education, her five<br />
years <strong>of</strong> service as Curriculum Coordinator <strong>of</strong><br />
the Psychiatry Residency, and her graduation from the <strong>University</strong><br />
<strong>of</strong> Pennsylvania School <strong>of</strong> Social Policy and Practice,<br />
where she received her Master’s degree.<br />
Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Teaching Awards<br />
These teaching awards from the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry<br />
Fellows (Class <strong>of</strong> <strong>2010</strong>) at Children’s Hospital <strong>of</strong> Philadelphia<br />
honor faculty members whom the fellows regard as the<br />
most effective teachers <strong>of</strong> this academic year. The winners <strong>of</strong><br />
each <strong>of</strong> these awards are recognized for their outstanding contributions<br />
as teachers and mentors.<br />
• Josephine Elia, MD received the Elizabeth B. Weller Distinguished<br />
Teacher Award.<br />
• Ashley J. Angert, DO received the Fellow Teaching<br />
Award for Outside Faculty.<br />
• Ronald Liebman, MD received the Fellow Teaching<br />
Award for In-House Faculty.<br />
Aanmol Rai, MD received the <strong>2010</strong> Graduate Education Committee<br />
Award for Excellence in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.<br />
Lydia K. Sit, MD received the <strong>2010</strong> Elizabeth B. Weller Outstanding<br />
Fellow Award. This award is given to a child and<br />
adolescent psychiatry fellow who has contributed to the<br />
improvement <strong>of</strong> psychiatric care <strong>of</strong> children, adolescents, and<br />
their families through excellence in research and clinical care.<br />

Penn/School <strong>of</strong> Medicine Honors<br />
~~ <strong>2010</strong> Penn Teaching Awards ~~<br />
Robert M. Weinrieb, MD was awarded a<br />
<strong>2010</strong> Lindback Award for Distinguished<br />
Teaching at the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> Pennsylvania.<br />
This award, presented by the Provost’s <strong>of</strong>fice,<br />
was established in 1961 with the help <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Christian R. and Mary F. Lindback Foundation and recognizes<br />
“teaching that is intellectually demanding, unusually<br />
coherent, and permanent in its effect.”<br />
Eleanor Ainslie, MD received the <strong>2010</strong> Medical<br />
Student Teaching Award. This award is<br />
given to a resident who has been a consistently<br />
outstanding teacher <strong>of</strong> medical students.<br />
David Danish, MD received a <strong>2010</strong> Penn<br />
Pearls Award for Excellence in Clinical Teaching.<br />
This award is given in honor <strong>of</strong> outstanding<br />
contributions to medical student<br />
education at the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> Pennsylvania<br />
School <strong>of</strong> Medicine. This award is managed<br />
by AOA students.<br />
Spencer J. Kostinsky, MD received the <strong>2010</strong><br />
Dean's Award for Excellence in Clinical Teaching<br />
at an Affiliated Hospital. This award recognizes<br />
teaching excellence and commitment to<br />
medical education at Penn Medicine’s affiliated<br />
hospitals.<br />
Chanita Hughes-Halbert, PhD was appointed<br />
Associate Program Director for Community<br />
Engagement <strong>of</strong> the School <strong>of</strong> Medicine's Robert<br />
Wood Johnson (RWJ) Foundation Clinical Scholars<br />
Program, where she co-directs the course on Methods<br />
for Community-Based Participatory Research<br />
and Community Engagement. Also, Dr. Hughes-Halbert was<br />
selected to be in the second cohort <strong>of</strong> Penn Fellows. The Penn<br />
Fellows Program, begun in 2009, provides leadership development<br />
to select Penn faculty members in mid-career, including<br />
opportunities to build cross-campus networks, meet with academic<br />
leaders both inside and outside Penn, think strategically<br />
about universities and university governance, and interact<br />
informally with Penn administrators. Dr. Hughes-Halbert was<br />
also selected to be a member <strong>of</strong> the Ad Hoc Consultative Committee<br />
to advise <strong>University</strong> President Amy Gutmann on the<br />
selection <strong>of</strong> Penn's next Executive Vice President <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong><br />
for the Health System and Dean <strong>of</strong> the School <strong>of</strong> Medicine.<br />
Provost Vincent Price chairs the committee.<br />
