Cell and Molecular Biology Graduate Group 

Dr. Marianne Bronner, Albert Billings Ruddock Professor of Biology, at the California 

Institute of Technology will be speaking on “Gene regulatory events in neural crest 

development and evolution.” More information about the research in her lab can be 

found at: http://biology.caltech.edu/Members/Bronner-Fraser. 

The CAMB Annual Symposium is a full day (8:30am –6:00pm) of science and social 

interaction for CAMB faculty and students. Talks will be presented by two faculty and six 

students, as well as the keynote speaker. 

All thesis level students are expected to present posters, and all other CAMB students 

may volunteer to do so. A panel of faculty judges will award prizes to the top posters at 

the end of the day.

Backup Child Care Program 

Provost Vincent Price and Vice Provost for Education Andrew Binns 

are pleased to announce a pilot Backup Child Care Program for 

students and post-doctoral fellows, which will provide child care in 

emergencies and other unanticipated situations. 

Family Grant Program for PhD Students 

In February 2011, Provost Vincent Price and Vice Provost for 

Education Andrew Binns announced the creation of a Family Grant 

Program for PhD Students, which will provide need-based grants to 

Penn PhD students with children.
