conference while upazila Jubo league Convener<br />
Jahidul islam Jewel announced the inauguration of the<br />
conference. engineer akm Fazlul haq Chan mp was<br />
present as the chief guest at the occasion. among<br />
others, Jubo league Joint Convener liakat hossain<br />
liton, district krishak league president abdul kader,<br />
former organizing secretary of the upazila awami<br />
league salahuddin, former agriculture affairs secretary<br />
amirul islam, district awami league's former cultural<br />
affairs secretary abdullah saleh, district council<br />
member abu Zafar, abdullahel al-amin, president of<br />
the upazila krishak league president abul kashem<br />

in the second phase of the conference, Jahangir alam<br />

technology (Just) was awarded the prime minister Gold<br />
medal-2017 on Wednesday. the prime minister Gold medal-<br />
2017 award ceremony under the auspices of university Grants<br />
Commission (uGC) was held at the shapla hall of prime<br />
minister's office where the prime minister handed over the gold<br />
medals among the talented students as the chief guest.<br />
the meritorious students of the Jessore university of science<br />
& technology, who received the prime minister Gold medal are,<br />
aliur rahman from department of petroleum and mining<br />
engineering under Faculty of engineering and technology,<br />
shammi akter from Fisheries and marine Bioscience<br />
department under Biology and technology Faculty, nazia<br />
naushad lina from nutrition and Food technology<br />
department under applied science and technology Faculty and<br />
rabiul islam from physical education and sports science<br />
department under Faculty of health science.<br />

of the ministry of education, professor dil afroza Begum, uGC<br />

experts at a function said Bangladesh<br />
achieved tremendous success in fish<br />
production in last ten years, meeting<br />

the observation came at the concluding<br />
and prize giving ceremony of the national<br />
Fisheries Week-<strong>2018</strong> jointly organised by<br />
upazila Fisheries department and<br />
upazila administration at Bir<br />
muktijoddha tipu munshi auditorium in<br />
kawnia upazila town on saturday<br />
evening.<br />
the weeklong programmes included<br />
colourful rallies, releasing fish fries,<br />
awareness building and motivational<br />
activities with a renewed call and fresh<br />
strategies for further development of the<br />
prospective fisheries sector.<br />

more than 900 people, including fish<br />
farmers and fishermen, officials and<br />
employees, political leaders, hatchery<br />
owners, pisciculture extension workers,<br />
fish-feed traders, teachers and students<br />
were present.<br />
manjurul islam narrated the success<br />
achieved in increasing fish production in<br />
kawnia upazila as well as in the district<br />
where the farmers produced 40,720<br />
tonnes of fish during last 2017-<strong>2018</strong> fiscal<br />
against annual demand of 63,095 tonnes.<br />
"the fish production increased by 5,643<br />
tonnes during the last fiscal while it was<br />
35,<strong>07</strong>7 tonnes in 2016-2017 fiscal in the<br />
district and the trend will continue in the<br />
coming years all over the district," he said.<br />
the chief guest mentioned tremendous<br />
economic prospect of the fisheries sector<br />
in the upazila and called for further<br />
boosting fish production using the latest<br />
technologies and protecting the natural<br />
breeding grounds with stopping hunt of<br />
smaller fishes.<br />

(dFo) of the town here on<br />
saturday afternoon at the<br />
directive of the higher<br />
authorities concerned<br />
though the week was<br />
celebrated here from July 18<br />

in the haors, bills and other<br />
water bodies and Jatka in the<br />

initiative of the fisheries<br />
department involving the<br />

government to provide<br />
subsidy or the loans with<br />
nominal interest to help the<br />
fish farmers produce more<br />
fishes without economical<br />
trouble and to brighten the<br />
fisheries sector as well.<br />
