President’s Message by Michael L. Price
“Now I lay me down to
sleep…”
This will be my last message as Chapter
President of the NW Chapter of Safari Club
International and the NW Chapter of Sportsmen
for Conservation, as my second term
was over as of June 30 th .
Please join me in welcoming the newly
elected Chapter President, Alain Smith, who
although he has a lot of travel plans (hunting)
during the next year, will make a great Chapter
President, helping take the chapter and its
mission statement and other goals to ever
higher levels.
My sincere thanks to all those board members
and other active team members who
have worked to lift the chapter to new
heights. Every one of them deserves a
medal.
Membership has risen to about 240 members.
We have an award winning newsletter to be
proud of and a web site that will soon be an
award winner. The treasury is robust with
reserves set aside for emergencies. We are an
active chapter participating in the PAC
(Political Action Committee) striving to oppose
the antis and idiots in the political arena
and support those who deserve our support.
My parting message to everyone is: I belong
to SCI, not for what SCI can do for me, but
for what SCI can do to preserve the right to
hunt and game conservation, so my grandson
and future generations will be able to enjoy
the activities I have enjoyed all my life.
SCI IS THE GIANT GORRILLA, THE
LEADER IN PROTECTING THE FREE-
DOM TO HUNT AND IN PROMOTING
WILDLIFE CONSERVATION WORLD-
WIDE. And unless we help SCI in those endeavors,
they will surely be taken away.

I recently returned from my third trip to the
Washington DC board meeting and political
action event, where we get the chance to listen
to Senators and Congressmen tell us
about bills and different ways the antis &
idiots are trying to destroy game management
and eliminate all hunting and fishing by continually
chipping away.
We then spent a day visiting with our Senators
(except, notably, Patty Murray) and Congressmen,
or their appropriate aids, to lobby
them to “do the right thing.”
So continue to pay your dues and be an active
member and a part of the solution.
The chapter events are fun and well attended,
and it is always great to visit with likeminded
people who either are friends, or soon
will be friends from interaction at those
events.
