North Shore School of Dance provides finest teachers for 29 years
At the North Shore
School of Dance, we foster
the passion for dance
in a positive and nurturing
environment. It is our belief
that everyone should
have the opportunity to
dance and be recognized
individually. Here, students
can feel safe and
be themselves, allowing
them to reach their fullest
potential.
NSSD has an unparalleled
reputation for providing
the finest teachers
on the North Shore for 29
years, and “continues the
lineage of high integrity
and professionalism that
spans over 47 years.” We
provide the highest caliber
of instruction by renowned
faculty members who are
dedicated to inspiring and
educating each dancer.
With over 120 classes
per week, there is all levels
of training for pre-school
through adults. These
classes are offered in both
traditional and contemporary
styles of dance. We
offer ballet, pointe, modern
and contemporary,
jazz, tap, lyrical, hip-hop,
pre-dance, boy’s and adult
classes. In addition, we offer
a full summer of camps
and programs, master
classes and workshops.
In our Student Division
for first grade through
teens, NSSD provides skill
development and performance
opportunities at for
the dedicated, recreational
or pre-professional dancer.
Each dancer is guided
by our experienced and
knowledgeable faculty
and directors to create a
proper schedule of classes
and planning for the future
near and far. Dancers
gain technical ability and
performance experience,
which promotes a higher
self-esteem and confidence
within themselves.
For ages 2.5-6 years, our
Pre-Dance Division classes
incorporate movement,
dance steps and creative
expression in a fun and caring
atmosphere. Fantasy
and imagery is often their
inspiration to improve and
practice what they have
learned. Their own themed
Pre-Dance Showcase is
a very exciting time of
year. Our youngest dancers
perform with our North
Shore Ballet Theatre for
a presentation of “The
Little Mermaid,” “Alice
in Wonderland” and other
wonderfully entertaining
stories.
Our non-competitive
concert dance performance
opportunities meet professional
standards of artistic
development, performance
values and production
qualities. Since 1989, they
have been presenting our
annual production of “The
Nutcracker” and the most
popular “Sugar Plum Tea
Party.”
In addition, the North
Shore Dance Company,
North Shore Repertory
Dance Ensemble and
North Shore Ballet Theatre
are wonderful opportunities
for the dancers to
grow with.
North Shore School of
Dance is known for excellent
traditional and contemporary
training, and
has continued the legacy
of training outstanding
dancers from our communities.
Generations of families
have danced with or
trained at NSSD, and now
many of our alumnae bring
their children. NSSD is not
only a dance school, but
is also known as a homeaway-from-home.

WINNETKA COMMUNITY NURSERY SCHOOL
WCNS offers play-based classes for
young 2s, older 2s, 3s, and Junior
Kindergarten. In addition, we offer
a robust list of enrichment classes for
our 3s and JK as well as an option for
extended day JK.
