New Employee Spotlight
I grew up in historic Selma, Alabama, with my parents, a younger
sister and an older brother. Before I moved to Colorado, I enjoyed a
summer interning at Dauphin Island Sea Lab. Dauphin Island is
located off the coast of Mobile, Alabama, in the Gulf of Mexico. I have
lived in Colorado for 12 years and graduated from Metropolitan State
University with a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science. Since
then I have been enjoying what Colorado has to offer during work
and play.
I love the great outdoors and try to spend as much time in it as possible. In January, I had the
chance to hike the Kalalau Trail on the island of Kauai, Hawaii. The Kalalau Trail is a 22-mile
backpacking trip with sheer drops to the ocean and a beautiful remote beach at the end. Now I
am trying to force friends into 30-40 mile backpacking trips. Any takers?
Naturally, I want to protect what I love so much and I have that opportunity here with OPS. I
appreciate that we have the ability to pursue new information and technology and incorporate
that into protecting the environment that we live in. In addition to environmental stewardship, I
have greatly enjoyed getting to know everyone here at OPS.
Greetings everyone, I believe that I am the newest addition to this team, as I came on board
July 2, filling the role of Petroleum Program Manager. I have been in the petroleum industry for a
little over eighteen years. I come to you from Kroger/King Soopers, where I had filled roles in
maintenance, IT and construction, all of which were focused on their retail fueling business.
Prior to the petroleum industry, I served in the United States Marine
Corps as an Aviation Electrician. I have been married to my wife Kim
for 25 years. Kim and I both were raised in Boulder County - Kim in
Park Lake and myself in Louisville. We have two children, Amber and
Jacob. Jacob is our oldest and is currently serving in the USMC. Amber
is our youngest and is currently serving in the Navy.
We all enjoy outdoor activities to include hiking, mountain biking and
camping. We also love dogs. We were foster care providers for All Ears
Basset Sanctuary. While very rewarding, it was also difficult to let go of
a dog that you rehabilitated. We chose not to continue fostering after
about 5 years, but remain active in the sanctuary as home inspectors
for possible adoptions and advisors. Bassets can be stubborn! We
have three - Izzy, Leo and Eddie - who chose to remain with us.
I appreciate the warm welcome that I have received, and I look forward to serving in my new role
and with this team.
