Sennybridge Agricultural Show<br />

The agricultural show, known as the Sennbridge<br />

Show, run by the Devynock Agricultural<br />

Society is a one-day event and is held<br />

on the first Saturday in September each<br />

year. Horses, sheep, and cattle classes are<br />

held during the day including an expanding<br />

dog show. Craft, domestic and horticultural<br />

tents together with trade stands, members<br />

tent and bar surround the ring giving the<br />

show an intimate and friendly atmosphere.<br />

Show attractions including bands, various<br />

displays competitions and an evening BBQ<br />

combine to make our show well worth a<br />

Gwyl y Twrch Trwyth/Enchanted<br />

Boar Festival<br />

Ammanford Town Park<br />

Ammanford is once again gearing up for<br />

the annual Twrch Trwyth Festival, which<br />

celebrates the area’s connection with one<br />

of the Mabinogion’s most famous tales. In<br />

the tale of Culhwch and Olwen, the Twrch<br />

Trwyth, a mythical wild boar, was chased<br />

from St David’s and through Ammanford by<br />

King Arthur and his knights. The Enchanted<br />

Boar will play a leading role in the festival,<br />

set to take place over the weekend of 22nd<br />

& 23rd and will see the entire town take on<br />

a medieval theme. Visitors to the weekend<br />

event will witness Ammanford transformed<br />

into an authentic looking medieval town,<br />

filled with period street performers, events,<br />

activities and re-enactors. The weekend<br />

starts with the order of the Boar Procession<br />

through the High Street where select locals<br />

will be honoured for the community work<br />

they have carried out in the area throughout<br />

the previous year, King Arthur will lead<br />

the procession to the Park where he will<br />

offi cially open the event to include tales<br />

of the wild boar, live entertainment of the<br />

Pembrokeshire falconry display, theatre of<br />

Alchemy and their baby dragons, Avon valley<br />

ferret display team, have a go archery<br />

and Circusdayze will be thrilling with their<br />

Circus Skills and fireshow! There will also be<br />

donkey rides, wandering musical minstrels<br />

plus authentic Medieval Tavern serving real<br />

ales, ciders and mead! On Saturday evening<br />

the entertainment continues with live Bands<br />

performing from 6.30pm. the fun will all be<br />

taking place throughout Ammanford Town<br />

and Park, where there will also be historical<br />

re-enactments, face painters, stocks and<br />

henna tattoos.<br />
