Learning Outcomes – Students
Performing:
Develop singing skills and singing confidence as a member of the
class chorus.
Perform the Sailors’ Chorus with an understanding of context and how to
convey drama through singing.
Performance of body percussion and ostinato patterns from this work.
Learning additional traditional work songs.
Performing the class’ own arrangement of the Sailors’ Chorus and work songs.
Arranging and composing:
Creating an arrangement of the Sailors’ Chorus using the material provided,
and critically evaluating their musical choices to refine their composition
Writing an arrangement of a traditional work song or an original work song.
Listening:
To a professional recording of the Sailors’ Chorus and answering questions
about the music.
To and comparing differing performances of the Sailors’ Chorus to develop
critical listening skills.
