SEPTEMBER 11

Positive Influence For the Future
Meek Mill said it best.
To paraphrase: there’s three kinds of
people in life... people that make it
happen, people that watch it happen,
and people that don’t even know what’s
gong on... which one are you?
12 P.I.F.F. 2018
With so many different
defintions to the term “woke”
and the way that the media has
twisted it to turn it into some
type of indifferent joke, it’s hard
to determine sometimes which
type of awakening we’re searching
for when someone tells us,
“stay woke”.
In this instance, we’ll refer
to it as a whole in general and
simply say that here at P.I.F.F.
Magazine, we’d like you to stay
woke and open your eyes to the
puppet-show and masquerade
that’s going on around you...
some people will have their eyes
opened and use their knowledge
for progression and change;
others will do nothing with it
but complain about the way the
system is so flawed; yet they are
the same ones contributing to
the flawed system because they
choose to do nothing... if we feed
you here at P.I.F.F., will you eat
and let it stick to your ribs?
Been a minute I know... five
years to be exact. Where have
we been? What happened? All
of that will be explained, but I
won’t give it all away in our first
relaunch issue, so you’ll have to
stick with us. For first-timers,
P.I.F.F. Magazine is an entertainment
mag that highlights aspiring
talent on their serious grind in the
underground. We feature models,
music artists, comedians, athletes,
producers, dancers, graphic artists,
entrepreneurs, etc.
And yes, we will always have
some type of eyecandy model on
our covers because let’s face it, it
draws attention and sometimes
controversy which leads to more
attention and regardless of how
it gets you there, you shall find
your way into the magazine where
my true woke people know that
the cover model and image was
simply our way of saying, “we’re a
sexy magazine.” Because knowledge
is sexy. Positivity is sexy.
And regardless of how we do it,
it will always be done classy and
tastefully. Some people say, “what
about the kids?” Well, I’m sorry,
P.I.F.F. is not a kids magazine and
if they’re seeing it, that’s the parent’s
job to be monitoring their
children’s social media lives.
This issue: our cover feature
is Taylor Gee, one of the nicest
artists coming out of Anchorage,
Alaska. We also chopped it up
real quick with Flamez La Candela
holding it down for New
York. Find out what Musicoin
is and why it could be changing
the future of the music industry.
Lebron James’ promise? What’s
that all about? We got something
to stop and make you think: how
do you know what you know?
Taj “Real Talk” Thomas is back
to talk his sh** again! And Averie
McKinney did her thing on the
V.E.N.T. interview with Reese
White. It’s all here in our 1st relaunch
issue. Welcome us back.
P.I.F.F. is definitely woke...
She’s on her way to drawing heat to Anchorage,
Alaska and she’s one of the most influential and
representative voices of the Anchorage underground
deemed Best Female Vocalist, Best Female
Rapper, and Rookie of the Year by the Alaska
since and has opened up for major acts such as
Jon B, J Holiday, Keyshia Cole, and 2 Chainz.
Now, with the release of her EP titled ‘TKOVR’,
P.I.F.F. REVIEW
She flexes with a versatility
of flows ranging from sounds
reminiscent of A Boogie [with
the Hoody], Cardi B, and Nicki
[Minaj] mixed with Snow [tha
Product] but yet as always, Honey
C, formerly known as Honey
Cocaine, is in her own lane as she
finds a way to bring all these elements
to a perfect blend... From
a chef in the kitchen to the lab
where she’s obviously developed
1.) Woke Up Feelin - the album
opens up just right with a song that
gives us a glimpse of the personal journey
that Honey’s overcome over the
past 3 years and where she stands now
in her recent transition from aspiring
artist first hitting the scene in 2013 to
now becoming an underground legend
who kept the daily social media
streams trending even months before
announcing her return. It is a track
that touches your heart but is easy on
the ears and gives you an intimate look
HONEY C - WILDF IRE
P.I.F.F. REVIEW
to hear at least one song where it’s
just them and the artist - a musical
one-on-one and Honey does just that
with Numb, which gives you an inside
look at how human a celebrity can feel
and it gives us a look at her personal
growth as she closes out the song with,
“be about your business, we can build
something...”
even more as a solid
artist who proves that
she can take time off
the return of Honey Cocaine
32 P.I.F.F. 2018
and still come back and land
smoothly in the top spot at the
throne she deserves and has put
the work in to prove it.
In a generation of a time
where artists focus more on
singles than making a good album
and where 85% of emerging
artists become one hit wonders,
Honey provides a classic
album with her August 3 release
of ‘Wildfire’ (2018) , an 11
track follow up to ‘the Gift Rap’
and prior releases such as ‘‘Like
A Drug’, ‘Thug Life’, ‘90’s Gold’.
into Honey’s heart, a side that she
opens the door to expressing for the
first time.
2.) Whole Lotta Sh*t - the 2nd
track on Honey C’s new album gives
us that cocky, raw, shit-taking femcee
we fell in love with and just to remind
everyone where she’s been recently
and whether she been stressin shit
the way her haters have, she boasts, “I
been on a wave you cannot touch...”
3.) Numb - Every true fan wants
4.) Two Cents - On Two Cents, she
reminds us of why hip-hop needs Honey
C as she gives us that laid back mellow
sound that you can ride to, vibe to,
smoke to...
5.) No Time - No Time is another
classic in the vault and it comes at the
best timing in the album as it presents
P.I.F.F. REVIEW
(continued from page 65)
an audio visual of Honey C at the top
of her game. The first single in her reemergence,
she boldly states that she’s
“young, but I never been dumb... Broke
and im never goin back./ I just had to
grow up fast... Facts./ Sick days, I ain’t
takin’ no time off;/ light one just to take
my mind off./” You have no choice but to
bop to the rhythm and acknowledge the
fact that she’s a beast in every right and
she’s in a space that no one else can fill
or move her from.
6.) Yea Yea - Yea Yea is a cocky song
and a challenge to all of the women hating
on the young Queen. She explains
that her haters keep making threats but
to show how worried about it she is, she
reminds them, “b**ches talkin bout the
fade.../ home alone, on my own, every
day.../”
7.) Veteran - the second single off
the album and the immediate follow-up
to No Time, it is another timeless project
that makes you fall in love with her
all over again as she talks swag, flosses
all over your ears, and finesses the bars,
36 P.I.F.F. 2018
punchlines, and wordplay all over an
eerie but smooth sounding gritty beat
produced by Bewill of 1801 Records.
8.) Chain Smokin - an anthem
for all smokers and those loving to hear
Honey talk that sh*t. She brings you
on a memorable flashback as the weed
causes her to reflect on days of not being
able to pay the light bill or water bill,
put gas in her car, pay rent, or afford
a decent meal. Its a story of triumph
over trial and a reminder that no matter
where you’re from or what you’ve been
through, you can rise above it all...
9.) Str8 Up - a playful and energetic
tone that finds Honey C focusing on her
melodic R&B side. It is a fearless expression
of her having fun in the studio and
revealing more of her personal side as
sbe continues to grow and develop as an
artist whos always been true to her fans.
.
10.) Light It Up - Honey is in go
mode as she vents on wax about how
she’s ready to catch a hater b**ch and
light it up on her ass. She attempts to
be humble but she promises that if the
b**ch texts back on a threat, she might
just catch an assault. It’s more of a girl
fight type of anthem, but fellas can appreciate
it for its original Honey Cocaine
sound on it as well.
11.) Wildfire - She provides a perfect
close to the album w the title track
where she goes ham just to remind you
of who the original Queen of Toronto is
by spitting that format of hard bars, flex
flow, and swag talk and money talk that
made us fall in love with her in the first
place. All that tells us is that at heart,
Honey is still the same, she just evolved
from Honey Cocain to Honey C and
Wildfire is an expression of her beginning
steps in this journey of womanhood.
