Foreword
Phonic Blends is a blackline master that uses a creative approach to introduce or
reinforce initial consonant blends.
The package contains more than 30 original poems, with each poem
concentrating on a different phonic blend. Other features include:
• sequential level of difficulty;
• blends are placed in family groups;
* reviews provided to assist with reinforcement and evaluation;
• simple activities following each poem to reinforce the auditory and visual
discrimination of each blend; and
• appealing artwork to help capture children's interest and understanding of
each poem.
Phonic Blends is written as a support to modern language programs and is a
I can skate better than all the rest.'
He was so busy skiting
about being so good,
off one arm and one knee.
Scallywag
sc
Scott was a scallywag,
who liked to trick his mates.
One day he gave them scones with flies,
and said that they were dates.
Another trick that he played,
made them late for school.
He threw their scarves up a tree,
By the time they got their scarves,
Scott had scampered away.
His mates were so cross with him,
Quiet
Queenie
qu
Queenie, queen of Quebec,
Quietly quilted quilts.
She really was quite clever,
As she quilted while standing on stilts.
One day when quietly quilting,
Queenie began to shiver.
A rather large earthquake,
Had made her stilts start to quiver.
She quickly quit her quilting,
And jumped down to the ground.
Now she only quilts,
When there are no earthquakes around.
