Founded in North Cyprus in 2017, Arkin University of
Creative Arts and Design (ARUCAD) is a fully accredited
university that is wholly dedicated to the fields of Art,
Design and Communication. ARUCAD?s goal is to become
one of the most innovative, creative and reputable
universities in the region, whereby its students continuously
improve their creative productivity through interdisciplinary
and cross-cultural programmes based on traditional,
contemporary and emerging art and design teaching and
learning and technologies, whilst adhering to the inseparable
link of theory and practice.
The ARUCAD studio-based ?learning whilst producing,
producing whilst learning?ethos is an education model that
aims to connect experience, critical thinking and practice in
order to generate a new generation of highly creative and
professional reflective practitioners .

OURLOCATION
We are in the heart of the idyllic coastal town of Kyrenia
(Girne), a short walk from the ancient harbour, backed by the
imposing silhouette of jagged mountain ranges, with views
out towards the sea. This unique region combines the best of
Cyprus?natural charm with an abundance of history and
unique mix of cultures, both ancient and modern. Most visit
Kyrenia for the ever-present sun, sea and bustling harbour,
restaurants and nightlife although with the growing number
of international students choosing to study in the region, the
student-centred nature of the town is developing fast.
AUNIQUEPLACETOSTUDY
From Bellapais Abbey, ancient Roman ruins, Byzantine
and Crusader castles there is much to explore during the
day and many places to enjoy in the evening. This region
is famed for its outdoor activities with mountain hiking,
cycling, turtle-spotting, sailing, scuba diving and much
more. Out of the holiday season the region is gloriously
quiet and peaceful, a truly unique place to study.

Through its interdisciplinary, cross-cultural programmes the University
raises the bar in Cyprus and the Mediterranean region in the standards of
higher education in the fields of art, design and communication, with the
intention of contributing to cultural and intellectual life, locally, regionally
and globally. Its approach highlights the fluid, transitive and hybrid nature
of art, design and communication today.
ARUCAD is an ambitious incubator of teaching and learning
excellence where students will be enabled to conduct original research,
articulate theories and their practice of visual production, recognise and
appreciate creative excellence of the past and present, become sensitive to
gender, racial and religious difference, comprehend issues of ecological,
environmental and ethical visual art and design production. To this end,
ARUCAD provides state-of-the-art facilities, world-class learning
resources and esteemed international artist-designer educators and
practitioners.
ARUCAD is committed to bringing the university and the wider public
together. Collaborative projects between academia and creative sector
businesses such as art galleries, museums and production houses are
on-going throughout the student?s programme. These are monitored and
organized by the institution?s Lifelong Learning Centre, which is engaged
with the public in the fields of art, design and communication through its
Certificate and Outreach Programmes.

with a regular
programme of
international artists and
designers.
The mission of the English Preparatory School is to provide
students at ARUCAD, an English-medium university, with
English language education at international standards by
coordinating and integrating English language instruction
with the academic work across our departments. By
continually adapting our English language programmes to
cater for the diverse needs of our international student body
we are able to deliver effective refresher through to
intensive courses depending on the students competencies.
We use the latest teaching technologies and teaching
methods and focus on meeting international IELTS
standards and the application of English in Academic
Contexts.

The Faculty of Arts is built around the contemporary needs and requirements
to deliver an intense and challenging combination of creative strategies with an
interdisciplinary manifestation in its interdisciplinary and studio based teaching
environment. This is formulated by crucial art forms of the 21st century. Bearing
this in mind, the Faculty of Arts holds a unique position with a primary focus on
bringing different critical perspectives on art as well as creative processes in visual
culture that propagates the production of knowledge towards research-led
teaching.
Within the Faculty of Design we focus on developing and enabling critical
thinking and encouraging self-learning so that our students can learn to think for
themselves and unravel the designer within. The contents of our courses are
designed to fill in the gaps that exist in any self-directed process by ensuring that
their ideas/designs are executed by themselves from first concepts through to
completion, and by motivating them to explore possibilities in all kinds of
situations, both experimental and real-life.
The Faculty of Communication provides expert pedagogy and a nurturing
environment that enables world-class creative practice and academic research .
The enormous creative potential of new media forms like virtual reality, and the
synesthetic and performative turns in art, promise transformative new horizons for
practitioners and fertile ground for philosophers.

Our Glass Studios and Workshop facilities are second to none in the region and
comprise both traditional and cutting edge digital technologies.
Our workshops provide students and the public to adopt all kinds of technical,
aesthetic and creative design process of glass art such as hot glass, including
sculpted glass, blown glass and casting; Warm glass and cold glass work,
enamelling, flame-working, architectural glass and stained-glass work.
In addition, through the workshops, seminars and conferences are organised with
the participation of internationally invited artists and designers during the year; in
this way the student experience is reinforced and enriched. Our facilities also enable
students to engrave, sandblast, polish and finish their creations and our Business
Engagement Unit at ARUCAD assists students with their professional practice,
marketing and employability in the creative sector.

equipment is made

ARTISTSINRESIDENCE
Seminars and workshops are organised throughout the year enabling students to
benefit from working with international ceramics artists and designers. We also have
an Artist in Residence opportunities at our workshops and associated galleries - The
Art Rooms in Kyrenia and Nicosia.

Our FabLab is a unique place
where creativity, innovation and
enterprise meet; where anyone can
make (almost) anything!
We established the first official
FabLab in Cyprus at the ARUCAD
campus in April 2018. Facilities
include Laser cutting, CNC routing,
3D scanning and 3D printing. We are
the only university in the region who
have embedded Maker Movement
and FabLab ethos and technologies
into our curricula. Both our students,
staff and the region benefit from
using this facility.
OURCERAMICSTUDIOS
ANDWORKSHOP
Our ceramics workshop is home to
a wide range of facilities: wheel
throwing (pottery), template wheel,
plaster wheel, mould-casting, etc, to
enable the students to implement
individual artisan through to
semi-industrial and industrial moulding
methods.
The low and high temperature
ceramics and porcelain firing kilns,
raku kilns and other facilities enable
students to express their creativity and
to learn by practice the processes
involved in drying and firing for the
production of ceramics.
Our fully equipped ceramics
laboratory allows for the research and
development of ceramics material,
paints, coating and glazes and promotes
experimentation and an opportunity to
develop creative ideas through to
production.

WOODWORKSHOPANDFINISHING
STUDIO
Our Wood Workshop ?s des?gned to enable students to
produce concept models and prototypes through to small
capacity batch productions as well as sto provide services for
our FabLab. The workshop comprises three sections:
Wood Processing Workshop
Finishing Workshop
Upholstery Worksho
The machining facilities in the Wood Workshop includes
band saws, planers, thickener, router, tenon-saw machine,
mortice panel saw with scoring head, edge bander, CNC
router, belt sander, contact sander, edge sander electric hot
press, veneer guillotine, cold press, universal machine with
five different processes. A compressor is installed to supply
pressured air for the machines as well as other uses. In order
to have a clean and healthy work space the shop is fitted with
a dust extraction system.
The Finishing Workshop is designed in two sections.;A
final preparation room including in-process layer sanding and
a secondary space for spraying and drying purposes. This
spaces is fitted with a professional dry filter spray booth with
a strong extraction unit to exhaust fumes and particles.
The Upholstery Workshop is equipped with single
needle and a double needle sewing machines and an
overlocker. Pressured air is supplied for the Workshop
through a compressor. A cutting table and all necessary
tooling is available in the Workshop. These spaces are
designed to meet a wide variety of upholstery requirements .

Facilities in our IMac and digital printing studios are
informed by those used professionally in the creative
industries. The latest Mac and PC's are complemented by
scanning, printing and the latest 2 and 3D design applications.

Arkin Global is a recently registered and licensed
international student recruitment agency based in Istanbul,
Turkey with well equipped modern office facilities in the
heart of the city,.
We provide our international clients with a wide range of
