THE RETURN OF D’SOUZA THE BALANCING ACT OF A CHRISTIAN One of the most difficult balancing acts any Christian has to endure is how to balance their faith with politics. There always seems to be 2 opposing arguments. significant positions of influence within government so that there can be a representation of biblical values and virtues. “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” I Timothy 2:1-5 The traditional belief is that since this world is not our home and we are called out from the world we should not partake of the things of this world. There are many strands that end someone up at this view but one of the most dominant strands is the view that since Satan became the prince of this world from mans’s original sin in the garden of Eden, then many of the kingdoms of the world are under his control and will remain so until the Second Coming of Christ. “Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; 9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.” Matthew 4:8-11 “And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.” Revelation 19:19-21 The opposing view is that the Bible admonishes us to pray for our leaders and to those who are in control of governments and nations. The Bible admonishes us to obey the rules of the land but more importantly, adherents of this view believe that it is the duty of Christians to occupy www.globalwatchweekly.com “No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light.” Luke 8:16 Many have asked whether the editorial team at Global Watch Weekly are republicans because we are overtly seen to be favouring Donald Trump from the time he came into office whereas previously we were very critical of Barak Obama. I also remember questions being asked previously when Mitt Romney was running for office of leader of the Republican Party where some where asking how could Conservative Christian republicans support a Mormon in office when Mormonism is defined as a heretical cult by mainstream Christianity. These are some of the challenges that our faith encounters in trying to make sense of what is right and wrong as far as political allegiance is concerned. As far as our editorial team are concerned we have no loyalty to any political party, only a loyalty to those policies which we believe are closest to a representation of some of the most important and key fundamental biblical truths. You see members, it doesn't surprise us that if you are a liberal leader who doesn't necessarily subscribe to the belief that Christianity is the one truth path to God. If you are someone who believes that the LGBT community deserve their voice, someone who is willing to sanction gay marriages, someone who doesn't not have a very strong stance against abortion, someone who believes Israel are the main reason for problems in the middle east. Then off course you are going to be popular with the masses. Off course people are going to shower you with respect and see you as someone for the people. Someone who is credible and someone who can be trusted. 4
THE RETURN OF D’SOUZA But what if you are someone who opposes same sex marriages, someone who is not favourable to the LGBT agenda, someone who wants to push Christianity to the forefront in the country, someone who is dead set against abortion, someone who believes there is something divinely special about the nation of Israel. Then off course you are not going to be popular. Off course the mainstream media are going to be very critical and negative of you and do their best to expose some of the skeletons in your closet. Off course the mainstream media will be all over you. Why? Because by just taking the positions outlined above you are perceived to be a threat to political correctness. That’s why I previously had such a hard time understanding why so many Christians, especially outside of the US (i.e. UK, Australia, Canada) are so willing to oppose Trump yet embrace Obama and the Clintons and completely ignore the fact that the democratic leftist agenda is onc which truly is in conflict with the biblical definition of the family unit, which is the core behind communities and nations. Yet some have countered by saying that Trump is favourable to far right groups and post the argument that many of the white slave masters in America’s past tortured and raped African slaves whilst at the same time going to Church on Sunday and professing a strong fundamentalist belief in Christianity. We also a few weeks ago referenced a similar level of contradiction with Martin Luther. Martin Luther is hailed as one of the great architects of the protestant reformation yet we saw that some of Luther's writing were racially vile and unacceptable. This would never be supported in Christendom today yet we hail Martin Luther as one of the great bastions of the historical Christian Faith. So, say some, one can be supportive of the Christian agenda but still discriminatory thus negating the Christian message of love and acceptance. So as you can see there are some strong arguments on both sides of the fence in regards to the modern day politics in America and this is what makes the subject so challenging for the Christian community. WAKING UP THE HORNETS NEST This leads me nicely to the key focus of this edition because Dinesh D’Souza has been one of the most articulate conservative republican thinkers and debaters of the last decade who has sought to expose the true meaning behind the Liberalist agenda of the Democratic party. Born in Bombay, D'Souza came to the United States as an exchange student and graduated from Dartmouth College. He became a naturalized citizen in 1991. From 2010 to 2012, he was president of The King's College, a Christian school in New York City. Many of his works discuss Christian apologetics and are critical of New Atheism. D’Souza has advocated the conservative movement’s fusion of religious conservatism and free-market economics, and has vigorously attacked Democrats, liberals and the left. Critics have said that some of his attacks on his political opponents cross the line into racism. D’Souza commenced hostilities against the left as a collegiate editor of the rightwing Dartmouth Review. He also had a short stint in government during the Reagan administration. D'Souza is an author and film maker. In 2012, he released his film 2016: Obama's America, an anti -Obama polemic based on his 2010 book The Roots of Obama's Rage; the film was the secondhighest-grossing political documentary-style film produced in the United States. He followed this up in 2014 with America: Imagine the World Without Her, in 2016 with Hillary's America: The Secret History of The Democratic Party and recently in 2018 with Death of a Nation. He has also produced an apologetic series called Whats So Great About Christianity and Life After Death: The Evidence which were both on The New York Times best seller list. www.globalwatchweekly.com 5
