Anyone at Ravinia on Aug. 31 could<br />

have safely assumed they had hopped in<br />

a time machine and were sent back to the<br />

‘80s, as Culture Club, the B-52s and the<br />

Thompson Twins took the stage, sounding<br />

just as they had in the bands’ heyday.<br />

The bands performed a series of their<br />

hit singles, including “Love Shack” and<br />

“Rock Lobster” by the B-52s, and “Karma<br />

Chameleon” and “Do You Really Want to<br />

Hurt Me,” by Culture Club.<br />

To close out Labor Day<br />

weekend, O.A.R. brought<br />

its Just Like Paradise tour<br />

stop Sept. 2 to Ravinia<br />

Festival in Highland Park.<br />

The tour also featured<br />

singer/songwriter Matt<br />

Nathanson and upcoming<br />

Nashville rock quartet The<br />

New Respects.<br />

Nathanson, who was<br />

making his third appearance<br />

at Ravinia, led<br />

fans through several of<br />

their favorites including<br />

“Run,” “All We Are” and<br />

“Come On Get Higher”<br />

which turned into a cover<br />

of “You’re the One That<br />

I Want” from “Grease.”<br />

Nathanson also covered<br />

“Pour Some Sugar On<br />

Me” from Def Leppard<br />

and “Kiss” by Prince. He<br />

also played a couple tracks<br />

from his upcoming October<br />

disc, “Sings His Sad<br />

Heart.”<br />

O.A.R. also made its<br />

third appearance at Ravinia,<br />

playing several of<br />

their hit songs from their<br />

more than 20-year existence.<br />
