SIKA-DESIGN
A PROUD TRADITION OF CRAFTMANSHIP
Our passion for and understanding of rattan dates back
decades. We have been around long enough to call
ourselves Scandinavia’s oldest producer of rattan and
wicker furniture.
The story of our company begins in 1942, when Ankjær
Andreasen produced the first batch of baskets, lamps,
flower tables and other smaller interior items made
of rush and willow. In the 1950´s, Ankjær expanded
his production to include a series of furniture made
from rattan, and the company Sika-Design was firmly
established.
The rattan was imported from the Far East, and Ankjær
travelled there to purchase the rattan for his wicker
makers in Denmark. During a trip in 1972, he was so
impressed by the skilled wicker makers that he decided
to establish a wicker furniture factory in Malaysia. Since
then, the Far East has been essential to our production
of furniture.
Today, we manufacture our furniture in our own factory
in Indonesia. Ankjær‘s son, Knud Andreasen, took over
the company in 1983, however Ankjær continued his
daily “inspections” until his death in 1997.
On my 10th birthday, my father allowed me to attend a
fair where Sika-Design was exhibiting a series of rattan
furniture.
On that day, I knew I wanted to be a part of his company,
and my passion for rattan furniture began. Since 1996,
my father and I have worked side by side bringing
Sika-Design into the new century with great design,
while never letting go of our strong heritage of great
craftsmanship.
In our ICONS and Exterior collection you will find
designs by world renowned architects and designers
as Arne jacobsen, Nanna Ditzel, Franco Albini, Viggo
Boesen and R. Wengler.
Sika-Design respects human rights and complies with
the SA8000 standard for social accountability, and we
demand the same commitment from our suppliers.
Products from Sika-Design are developed and marketed
in accordance with our management system for
environment and social responsibility ISO 14001/2015
and SA8000/2014.

With furniture from Sika-Design you can create
a contemporary or classical exterior space with
our luxury synthetic rattan exterior furniture.
Sika-Design interior rattan furniture allows
you to create an interior space with lightweight
but very strong furniture, made from one of
the worlds most sustainable materials. Our
collections are designed to live long. Whether it
is our contemporary or more classical furniture
collections, you are guaranteed continuity and
stability.
ENVIRONMENT & SOCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY POLICY
Sika-Design strives to supply sustainable and
comfortable quality furniture manufactured
with respect for the environment and social
accountability. We attempt to improve our efforts
on behalf of the environment on an ongoing
basis and take responsibility for the people who
create our furniture. We aim to minimize the
consumption of resources and prevent pollution
in our supply chain.
Sika-Design does not accept child labour, respect
human rights and complies with the SA8000
standard for social accountability, and we demand
the same commitment from our suppliers. We
focus on design and comfort and also take the
environment into account when we choose
our raw materials and develop new production
methods and products.
Sika-Design complies with environmental and
labour legislation and demand that our suppliers
comply with their legislations within these areas.

STRONG PARTNER - MORE THAN 75 YEARS
Our passion and know-how dates a long way
back - we have been around long enough to call
ourselves Scandinavia’s oldest manufacturer of
rattan and wicker furniture. Sika Møbler was
established in 1942 by Ankjær Andreasen. He
only worked with the best wicker makers and
together they perfected the art of wicker.
His son Knud Andreasen took over the company
in 1981, and in 2013 3rd generation Louise
Andreasen became the main shareholder in Sika-
Design and the legacy has continued. Each piece
of furniture is still handcrafted with the same
tradition for craftsmanship, comfort and quality
that has characterized Sika-Design for the past 70
years.
STACKABLE & COMFORTABLE
Several of our chairs are stackable, making them
easy to store away during winter or after a busy
day, getting ready for closing time at the café.
The Scandinavian minimalist design is suitable
everywhere. The structure of the Artfibre® and
the woven seats provide flexibility and optimum
comfort.
FINE CRAFTMANSHIP & MODERN TECHNOLOGY
Sika-Design selects its materials using the strictest
criteria in the industry. The factory is a place where
experts in handcraft use their expertise and carry
out their handiwork with meticulous attention to
detail. Sika-Design work with the finest quality
of natural rattan and the newest technology in
aluminum – also called AluRattan®.
Sika-Design furniture is designed to withstand
everything that nature can throw at it – rain,
cold, heat, UVrays and even snow. The factory of
Sika-Design is a place of innovation and where
everyone involved take pride in their work.

Beautiful and charming hotel Sanders in Copenhagen is styled
with Charlottenborg and Belladonna from our Icons collection.
Charlottenborg is designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1936 and
handcrafted in the natural material rattan. Belladonna is
designed by the famous italian designer Franco Albini in 1951,
and handcrafted in Manau and core rattan. All our models can be
fitted with custom fabric.

Café Medi in New York is furnished with
Sofie chair in Salvie Green from our
Affaire collection. Our Affaire collection is
inspired by the bistro chairs seen all over
Paris, made of natural rattan and woven
with artfibre. Sofie is available in several
colors and is a charming choice for any
cafe. Our Affaire chairs can be used inside
and outside in covered areas, they can not
be exposed to rain. Sofie is also available
in a full outdoor version model – see our
Affair ALU program. Sofie can be styled
with our Nicole table base, available in
white or black.

UNiK CAFÉ, in Alicante, Spain is beautifully
styled with Isabell chairs from our Affaire
colletion. Isabell chair is light, comfortable

MANUFACTURED IN DENMARK
The quality of good craftsmanship is also felt in
our cushions, where we draw on great experience
and expertise when we decide the shape and
characteristics of each cushion.
Since the 1950´s when Ankjær started his furniture
production, we have developed customized cushions
for all our models in our own facilities in Denmark.
We are also capable of making custom made
cushions. So if you have a special request
or a specific need, feel free to ask for your
possibilities. We make cushions for interior and
exterior use.
Our high-quality upholstery and seat cushions are
made to order and can be chosen from a broad
variety of high quality fabrics and styles – even your
own choice.

MATERIALS &
MAINTENANCE
NATURAL RATTAN
Natural rattan is used in our Originals, ICONS, Affäire and LOOM Living
collections. Rattan is a natural climbing plant that grows in the Indonesian
rainforest. Rattan have been known to grow up to a hundred meters long.
Rattan grows naturally without disturbing the existing structure and balance
in the rainforest. Rattan is strong, lightweight, flexible, and durable.
MAINTENANCE: Wash with water mixed with mild soap and remove stains
with a sponge or medium brush.
ARTFIBRE
s
Artfibre is used in our Exterior, Affäire, ALU Affäire and Georgia Garden
collections. Sika-Design ArtFibre®is a fibre made of dyed and hard-wearing
polyethylene. It is ideal for outdoor use in any climate as it is temperature and
UV-resistant. The ArtFibre® is flexible and, when woven, provides optimal
comfort and a structure that is strong and can maintain its shape for years
on end.
MAINTENANCE: Wash with water mixed with mild soap and remove stains
with a sponge or medium brush.
ALU RATTAN

ALU rattan is used in our Exterior and ALU Affäire collections. All our
aluminium furniture is powder coated. The powder coating ensures a surface
resistant to knocks and scratches. The furniture is well-suited to be left outside
all year long and is easy to clean.
MAINTENANCE: Wash with water mixed with mild soap and
remove stains with a sponge or medium brush.
AVANTGARDE

STEEL
Our Avantgarde collection is very unique due to the fact that the frame is
actually steel. The steel is specially treated and welded to last for decades. The
steel frame is hot-dipped galvanized and powder coated. This unique steel
treatment enables the furniture to stand outside all year long enduring all
elements of nature.

MAINTENANCE: Wash with water mixed with mild soap and remove stains
with a sponge or medium brush. Can also be cleaned by using a high pressure
water gun.

LLOYD LOOM
Lloyd Loom is used in our LOOM Living collection. Loom is the name of
a unique woven material, which consists of a twisted Kraft paper that is
partly reinforced with steel wire. Our Loom furniture is similar to our fine,
traditional handcrafted rattan furniture, it is smooth to the touch, with no
sharp joints in the weave, which can snag clothing, it does not bend, distort
or creak when used and it is remarkably strong and durable. The frames of all
our Loom products are made in natural rattan.
TEAK TABLES & TOPS
Sika-Design teak tables are all made from reclaimed teak, coming from old
houses and ships. Teak is a close-grained hardwood with a high natural
oil content which gives the teak furniture a beautiful smooth surface. Teak
furniture is hard wearing and highly resistant to decay and almost immune
to rain, frost, snow or sun. Our tables and tops is supplied untreated and will
develop a patina over time.
MAINTENANCE: Wash with water mixed with mild soap and remove stains
with a sponge or medium brush. If you wish to treat your teak furniture, we
recommend using teak oil – be aware that this will make the wood darker!
GLASS TOPS
All our glass tops , which are made from 8 mm tempered glass is easy to clean
and more durable than ordinary glass. Handle with care! A damaged edge or
scratched surface can in exceptional cases cause the glass to crack suddenly.
However, never into sharp fragments, only into small pieces. Avoid collisions
from the side - this is where the glass is most vulnerable
MAINTENANCE: Wash with water mixed with mild soap and remove stains
with a sponge or medium brush.
VERSALITE TOPS
Our artificial contract table tops are easy to maintain because of its smooth,
scratch free and hygienic surface. These artificial tops are strong and stable
and they are resistant to all weather conditions. These tops are the perfect
choice for restaurants and hotels.
MAINTENANCE: Wash with water mixed with mild soap and remove stains
with a sponge or medium brush.
TEMPOTEST

FABRICS
Our Italian Tempotest® fabrics are treated with a special type of finishing.
During the treatment process, the finish is deposited not only on the surface
of the fabric, but envelopes each individual fibre, forming an impenetrable
barrier without compromising the fabric’s breathability. The HI- Clean
finishing makes Tempotest® fabrics water and oil repellent, proof against
rotting and immune to the formation of mould and fungus.
