In 2012, Sunshine Enterprises began with the notion that within the
city's most disinvested communities, the greatest potential for
economic development lies within the fabric of the neighborhood
itself. Locally based entrepreneurs have the power to generate over
$60 billion of economic revenue in our city. Therefore it is
imperative to train, coach, and connect this demographic to a
robust network of capital. At Sunshine we are providing these
catalytic leaders with the holistic support needed to spark
transformation.

Karli Butler is most assuredly an activist, optimist,
survivor, and inspiration to many entrepreneurs. In
2016 Karli joined Sunshine Enterprises with the vision
to launch her business. She is no stranger to adversity;
she’s managed to turn her trauma into triumph
through storytelling, reflection, and forgiveness. As an
acid burn survivor, she uses her experiences and her
scars to teach and empower. Karli is a trained circle
keeper and TEDx speaker. When she’s not serving as
the Trauma-Informed Social Service Provider at Curt’s
Café, you can find her running around her local parks
with her adorable son, Zailen.
