Vision, Mission, and Values The Department of Family and Community Medicine is an academic department composed of health care professionals dedicated to leadership in teaching, research, service and the advancement of the discipline of family medicine, locally, nationally and internationally. VISION Excellence in research, education and innovative clinical practice to advance high quality patient-centred care. MISSION We teach, create and disseminate knowledge in primary care, advancing the discipline of family medicine and improving health for diverse and underserved communities locally and globally. CORE VALUES We are guided by the four principles of family medicine produced by the College of Family Physicians: ɁɁ ɁɁ ɁɁ ɁɁ The family physician is a skilled clinician. Family medicine is a community-based discipline. The family physician is a resource to a defined practice population. The patient-physician relationship is central to the role of the family physician.
