Three Dyson vacuums
stolen from business
A business in the 2000 block
of Skokie Valley Road reported
the theft of 3 Dyson vacuums,
valued at approximately $1900
by an unknown subject, Friday,
Sept. 21.
September 17
• A business owner in the 1600
block of Old Deerfield Road
reported that an unknown
person(s) vandalized his business
by destroying plants and
spraying a fire extinguisher on
the elevator carpet. The approximate
damage caused by the unknown
subject(s) is $200.
• A patron of a business in the
1500 block of Deerfield Road
reported the theft of her car
from the parking lot. The vehicle
contained four handbags,
a wallet, and approximately $40
in cash.
September 20
• A complainant in the 2700
block of Roslyn Lane reported
the theft of items valued at
more than $700 by unknown
subject(s) during an estate sale
on September 1, 2018.

September 21
• A complainant reported the
theft of a mountain bike, valued
at $200, from a facility in
the 400 block of Vine Avenue.
An unknown subject removed
the unlocked bike from a bike
rack.

Highland Park Police arrest
Boy Scouts executive
Submitted by The City of
Highland Park
The Highland Park Police Department
was notified in May by
the Northeast Illinois Council
of the Boy Scouts of America,
located at that time in Highland
Park, of an internal investigation
conducted by them, on one of
their executives regarding fraud
and other improper use of Boy
Scouts of America funds and
property totaling approximately
$25,000.
Highland Park Police Detectives
conducted an investigation
and presented the findings to the
Lake County State’s Attorney’s
Office which referred the case to
a special prosecutor from the Illinois
State’s Attorney’s Appellate
Prosecutor’s Office, an independent
Illinois Prosecuting Agency.
The executive is identified as
George D. Nelson, 51 years old
of the 21000 Block of North
Forest Rd. in Deer Park, IL. Mr.
Nelson held the title of Scout Executive
of the Northeast Illinois
Council of the Boy Scouts of
America.
The incident was reviewed by
the Lake County Grand Jury on
August 29, 2018 and charges
for disburing charitable funds
without authority for personal
benefit, which is a Class 2
felony, as well as charges for
wire fraud and forgery, both considered
Class 3 felonies, were approved.
Nelson was arrested the following
day by Highland Park
Police Detectives on the Lake
County arrest warrant. Nelson
was released on 10 percent of a
$50,000 bond.
