Ashland Community Theater (ACT) wraps up its fifth season with a production of Rick Abbot’s hilarious comedy, Play On! at the Ashland VFW on October 25th, 26th, & 27th at 7:30 p.m. Presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Play On! is a hilarious and all too familiar story of a community theater group trying desperately to produce an original work, despite the maddening interference of the local author. “We had a great turnout for our table read and auditions, the largest turnout we’ve had for a production. Casting was difficult as we had a lot of great talent, more than we needed for the show.” said Joe White, ACT founder and Play On! director. “Our stellar cast is transforming this already funny play into a great evening of comedy. It’s going to be great!” ACT specializes in producing locally written original comedies such as recent productions of Nearly News and Gate 19. When asked why ACT decided to produce a published work, White said, “We set out to produce two productions a year that entertain and educate our community. In doing so we’ve sparked a growing community dedicated to the creation and collaboration in support of original plays. We had great success with our spring production, Nearly News. Bringing a new work to stage is time intensive. Instead of collaborating with local authors on a new work for the fall, we put our efforts toward creating a Nearly News feature length film. That’s now in the can, and we had a great turnout at our September 5th premiere at the VFW. The film is entered it into several film contests around the country. We’ll return to original works for our 6th season.” This is ACT’s third production at the Ashland VFW. When asked about the partnership, Kim Walbridge, Marconi’s Co owner and manager of the Ashland VFW Pleasant Street building said, “We continue to be thrilled to partner with ACT. They promote our space and proceeds from concessions sold during ACT productions go toward the on-going renovations of our facility. We look forward to more events with ACT in 2019 and their continued support of our ongoing renovations.” “It continues to be a win-win situation for ACT, the VFW, and the community.” said White. “Having a long-term home gives us greater flexibility in scheduling events and rehearsals. We are now exploring additional events at the VFW to increase community engagement with ACT and the VFW.” Play On! is live onstage on October 25th, 26th, & 27th at 7:30 p.m. the Ashland VFW at 311 Pleasant St. in Ashland, Mass. Frugality, sacrifice, and patience aren’t enough. Not flexible or dynamic.” By contrast, PlanDynamic focuses on education, access, and accountability partnership. Cutting-edge technology allows Brown to provide flexibility and transparency. Using video conferencing, online scheduling, and a secure web portal, clients can consult with Brown or interact directly with their overall financial picture, including goal-tracking. Brown stresses the goal-tracking. “Our onboarding process includes a Needs Analysis. A person with a dozen goals feels too overwhelmed to accomplish anything, so I work with clients to choose three. I break down goals into tasks, and we agree on due dates. Each of us can monitor and update progress. If a deadline passes, that’s when I become their accountability partner to help them reassess.” More often, though, the clients achieve their goal. They celebrate…then create a new one. There are different ways to work with PlanDynamic for planning, investing, or both.
