What will I learn?<br />
The courses at both AS and A Level centre around<br />
many topics including anatomy and physiology, sports<br />
psychology, skill acquisition.<br />
GCSE PE is a good basis for the study of A Level PE, but<br />
not essential, and some of the concepts covered are<br />
studied in more depth and detail as well as new topics<br />
included.<br />
It is a challenging and interesting course and for those<br />
students who enjoyed PE at GCSE will enjoy the new<br />
challenges this course offers.<br />
Assessment<br />
AS Level 2 Hour exam, 70% of AS. Assessment as a performer<br />
or coach in one activity plus performance analysis 30% of AS<br />
A Level x2 2 Hour written exams, 70% of A Level,<br />
Assessment as a coach or performer in one activity plus a<br />
performance analysis 30% of A Level<br />
Who is the course suited to?<br />

Anybody considering a sport related degree course. Many of<br />
our A Level students go on to study sports related degrees at<br />
university.<br />
If you are interested and intrigued by the theory of sports<br />
science.<br />
What is the structure of the course<br />
The course comprises of the following topic areas, this is part of<br />
it’s appeal as it is broad and varied.<br />
• Applied anatomy and physiology<br />
• Skill acquisition<br />
• Sport and society<br />
• Exercise physiology<br />
• Biomechanical movement<br />
• Sport psychology<br />
• Sport and society and the role of technology<br />
in physical activity and sport<br />
Reasons to consider doing Physical Education at A Level:<br />
• The course is broad and varied, you do not get too bogged down with one aspect of sports science.<br />
• If you enjoy variety, there are a range of very interesting topics to capture your interest.<br />
