NEWBURYPORT - Meeting on Citizen Advocacy and Housing Insecurity Moved to Dec 4 at 7 pm.<br />
Because the State Rep Forum has been scheduled for October 17 (7 pm at Newburyport Senior Center),<br />
Pennies for Poverty’s and HOPE’s meeting on the role of citizen advocacy in addressing housing insecurity<br />
has been moved to Tuesday, December 4, at 7 pm at Central Congregational Church, 14 Titcomb Street,<br />
Newburyport. Ed Cameron and Kelly Turley will speak. Pennies for Poverty encourages all to attend the<br />
State Rep Forum. Submit your questions about what the candidates are doing to address housing insecurity<br />

NEWBURYPORT – Extended hours begin at the Newburyport Yard Waste Facility beginning Sunday,<br />
October 14. The facility will be open from <strong>10</strong> am to 2 pm on Sundays until closing day on December<br />
2, weather permitting. Regular hours on Tuesdays through Saturdays from 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM will also<br />
remain in effect. Please remember that shrub trimmings, tree twigs, branches and trunks up to <strong>12</strong>” in<br />
diameter are accepted, unbagged, on the right-hand side as you enter the Yard Waste Facility. Leaves, mulch<br />
and garden waste, in paper bags or unbagged, are deposited on the left-hand side. NOT ACCEPTED:<br />
plastic pots, dirt-covered stumps, stones, formed wood, or trash. Residents are required to purchase a<br />
yearly sticker to use the facility. Stickers are sold at the Colby Farm Lane site with two proofs of residency<br />
or property ownership to residents in their own vehicles. Fees are $20.00 for residents under 65 and $5 for<br />
residents 65 and over. Curbside bagged leaf collection will take place on the following Saturdays: November<br />
3, November 17, and December 8. Residents must place leaves in brown paper leaf bags or in marked<br />
barrels. Bags must be curbside by 6 a.m. and contain only leaves. Bags containing branches, plants, dirt,<br />
rocks or trash will be left behind. The October Saturday Drop-off recycling event at Colby Farm Lane will<br />
be on October 13 instead of the first Saturday of the month, due to the holiday weekend. Accepted items<br />
include electronics, tires, antifreeze, oil (both cooking and motor), bikes, metals, mattresses, rechargeable<br />
batteries, fluorescent bulbs and clean white Styrofoam (not food-related). Open from 8am -<strong>12</strong> pm. Some<br />
items require fees, which can be paid for with cash or by check. For additional information check the City<br />
