PCHS students craft blankets
SUBMITTED BY PROVIDENCE CATHOLIC HIGH
SCHOOL
Providence Catholic students are inspired
by the core Augustinian values of Truth,
Unity, and Love. The school provides spiritual
programs that foster and promote an
enduring commitment to a life of faith and
service.
On Oct.3, PCHS students donated blanket
material, which were then made into comfort
blankets by members of the PCHS Respect
for Life Club. Respect for Life Club
is one of the largest service organizations at
Providence Catholic. The group is dedicated
to living out the value that all human life is
sacred and should be protected. Students
also have the opportunity to take part in the
National March for Life in Washington D.C.
each year.
Respect for Life members made a total of
11 blankets for children that are served by
the Will County Children’s Advocacy Center.
PCHS Senior Gea Alberico has volunteered
her time to collect and make blankets
for kids in need.
“Being able to help these kids by doing
something as simple as waking up early and
making blankets, really puts things into perspective
on how easy it is to help other those
who need it,” she said. “It was a fun thing to
do with my friends and felt amazing to help
the kids by doing this.”
Nicholas Jude, Tinley Park High
School, senior
Nicholas Jude, a senior at Tinley Park High
School, looks up to his dad and hopes to
one day become a surgeon or video game
designer. He is this week’s Standout Student.
What is one essential you must have when
studying?
It is essential for me to have silence when
I study. Outside noise makes it way more
difficult for me to remember what I need to
know.
What do you like to do when not in school or
studying?
I like to play video games when I’m not in
school, especially Nintendo games.
What is your dream job?
My dream job is either to become a surgeon
or video game designer. I haven’t decided
yet.
What is one thing people don’t know about
you?
One thing that people don’t know about
me is that I like to collect video games. I currently
have over 100 of them on my shelf,
and I’m thinking of starting a collection of
anime/manga in the future too.
Whom do you look up to and why?
I look up to my dad, because he’s helped
me so much and I want to be as kind and
devoted as he is.
What do you keep under your bed?
I keep my alarm clock under my bed, so
that I have to physically get up to turn it off.
This prevents me from turning it off in my
sleep and ignoring it.
Who is your favorite teacher and why?
My favorite teacher is Mr. Uniek from my
AP American History/Government class, because
he makes every lesson he teaches very
entertaining while also being easy to understand.
What’s your favorite class and why?
Photo Submitted
My favorite class this year is AP Biology,
because the class gets to do a lot of fun lab
activities and I find it one of the easier classes
for me to understand.
What extracurricular(s) do you wish your
school had?
I wish my school had competitive Super
Smash Bros. tournaments, because Smash is
one of my favorite fighting games and I feel
that I would be pretty good at it.
If you could change one thing about school
what would it be?
If I could change one thing, I would make
it so that lunch periods were a full hour long.
This way, I would have more time to talk
with my friends.
What’s your favorite thing to eat in the
cafeteria?
My favorite thing to eat in the cafeteria is
a cheeseburger with fries.
What’s your best memory from school?
My favorite memory from school was
back in 8th grade, when my lunch table had a
small Super Smash Bros tournament. It was
super fun and I ended up winning.
Standout Student is a weekly feature in The Tinley
