Spooky Science

eerie events and ghostly goings-on, as half-term
brings Spooky Science week to Techniquest. Ever
seen a pumpkin carve itself, or a coin scream?
Can you sit on a bed of nails without screaming,
and can science be used to create potions and
ghosts? Find out at the Spooky Science show. Go
in fancy dress if you like!

Graham the Ghost
All ghosts need to show up in the dark, but
poor Graham the Ghost has lost his glow.
He needs to learn to make shadows, steal
shadows and scare people or he won’t be able
to pass his test and join the ghost union. Can
you help by using science in this interactive

Hallowe’en Nights
St Fagans National History Museum, St Fagans,

Put on your most blood-curdling costume for
an unforgettable night at the Museum. Friendly
buildings will be showing their dark side as
spirits are conjured up with bucketloads of
SPOOK-tacular technical wizardry. New this year
will be an extra-creepy SCARE ZONE for those
who like their nightmares on the wild side (age
12+). There’ll be spooky stories for little ones
around the witch’s cauldron in Oakdale, and
darker tales for the older and braver in Penrhiw
Chapel. Wherever you go, you’re bound to bump
into some extra ghostly guests, straight out
of the weirdest pages of Welsh folklore. Make
things inspired by the terrible treasures that lurk
in the darkest corners of the collections at the
Creepy Craft workshops. Or make a magic wand
in Kennixton Barn so you can cast your own
special spells. There’ll be live music, and fiery
jugglers to light up the night on Gwalia Green.
Then as the evening draws to a close, gather
together to watch the Wicker Man burn. You can
make a wish as the sparks fly high, then join the
lantern parade to wind your way home. Book
