David Meade is a world-class international

Darren Shirlaw
Mathematician and ex-Funds Manager,
Darren Shirlaw is renowned for his economic
forecasting and ability to predict recessions.
In his keynote session, Forecasting the
Future, Darren will deep-dive into what
each estate agency should do about the
future. Combining insight into financial and
policy worlds, with management strategy,

Malcolm has always believed in the power of
people above systems and that true leadership
is about developing business environments
that create wealth. His prime focus is on how
energy is used in a transaction, whether this be
a presentation, sales pitch or negotiation.
His background of science and marketing
within industrial groups gives him a unique
insight into how businesses transact
and develop. Robust and pragmatic in
his approach, Malcolm always ensures
that the people he works with have the
right level of challenge and support to
make changes and deliver more, both for
themselves and their businesses.

Darren will address the economy for the
next one, two and five years and make
predictions on how Brexit will impact the
UK property market, as well as what a
post-Brexit Britain will look like.
In his keynote session, Negotiating
Value, Malcolm will explore value
propositions and help you to understand
your company’s value propositions. He
will develop themes around the correct
language to maintain value during
a negotiation and the negotiation
framework that can be prepared,
leading to aspirational pricing. Malcolm
will also be one of our

Workshops
Workshop 1: David Meade – Mind Your Business:
Sales, Persuasion & Influence
In this fun and interactive workshop, David will take attendees through an energetic session
that promises to engage and inspire. Drawing from a range of top-level research, he will
show how some very simple techniques can be used by estate agents at work (or indeed at
home!) to improve sales, influence and decision making. Delegates will learn how to increase
the likelihood of hearing the word ‘yes’ by achieving true ‘trusted advisor’ status in the mind
of their prospects. At the end of the session, delegates will leave with a sound toolkit to
improve their sales results, effectiveness and efficiency.
Workshop 2: Ian Springett, Chief Executive Officer,
OnTheMarket – Competition in the UK Portals Market
In this insightful session, Ian will review the changes in the portals market over recent years
and the impact on agents, other market participants and the portals themselves. Ian will
address the importance and positive impact of genuine competition in the portals market,
allowing agents to switch portals and provide real choice for consumers. Ian will look
ahead to potential developments in the portals landscape and its relationship with estate
agency. He will outline ways in which Relocation Agent Network members and other leading
independent companies can influence the direction of these future developments.

Supporting Agents Giving
The Relocation Agent Network Advisory Council has again chosen
to raise money for Agents Giving at this year’s Awards Dinner, as
we see the return of the popular Heads or Tails fundraising game.
Participants make a £10 donation to predict the outcome of each
flip of a coin and the chance to win £100. Agents Giving is a charity
dedicated to raising money for great UK causes including the British
Heart Foundation, Macmillan Cancer Support and local, community

Comedian, writer and actress
Katherine has appeared on a huge range of panel shows, sitcoms
and has won the prestigious Nivea Funny Women Award. She’s
appeared on Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week, Have I Got
News For You, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, 8 out of 10 Cats, The
Apprentice: You’re Fired and the Radio 4 institution, The News Quiz.
She’s been a regular on Dave’s comic challenge show Taskmaster,
music quiz Bring the Noise and has also appeared in Channel 4’s
college-based comedy Campus, BBC2’s Episodes and has hosted
BBC 2 reality contest Hair. We look forward to welcoming Katherine
as this year’s Awards host.

This year’s event returns to a Conference favourite, the Park Plaza Riverbank
in Central London.

Getting There
The Park Plaza Riverbank has excellent rail and air links. Located
near to Waterloo rail and underground station and Vauxhall rail
and underground station, the venue’s location also offers direct
links to Victoria, Kings Cross, St Pancras International, Euston and
Paddington. Heathrow and London City airports are within easy
reach via the underground and Gatwick can be reached using rail
connections to Victoria. If you are planning to drive, the hotel does
not have its own car park but there are car parks in close proximity.
