Our school is a rich educational environment promoting
positive attitudes towards learning and an ethos where each
child is valued and offered every opportunity to succeed.
It is a happy and vibrant community in which our highly qualified
staff have high expectations for the children and strive to bring
learning alive in order to nurture and inspire academic success.
Our intention is to promote the spiritual, moral, cultural,
mental and physical development of pupils, preparing
them at school for their future life responsibilities
and experiences.
We encourage every boy and girl to discover and
develop their own skills and abilities, as well as
their interests, talents and their own distinctive
personalities so they can each achieve
their full potential.

Since we strongly believe that 'intelligence
is not fixed- it can be grown', we see the potential
in all children to become successful and energised learners.
Positive behaviour is encouraged across the entire school community
in an atmosphere of kindness, mutual respect and consideration
where all contributions are valued.
By providing for their enrichment, this way we believe our
pupils will profit from their lives as children. At the same

At Welford School, we believe in the
education of the whole child and
have developed a broad curriculum that
stimulates strong intellectual, social and
physical well-being, setting high
expectations for all pupils.
Within our foundation subjects - which include
Art & Design, Computing, Design & Technology,
Geography, History and Languages - children receive
a high quality education that is designed to inspire
naturally curious and creative minds. We challenge
them to think critically, to build their knowledge
and understanding and to explore and enjoy learning.
Through our diverse and enjoyable Music curriculum we aim to provide
a rich, broad musical experience which helps pupils develop the skills
to express their own talents. At the same time, we are fostering an
appreciation for music that will continue throughout their lives.
Pupils are also given every encouragement to lead healthy, active
lives and we provide a high quality PE curriculum that can build up their
physical confidence in a range of activities; nothing is better than
engaging in competitive sport for learning values such as fairness,
team spirit and respect.
We recognise that many of the values that we want our children to develop
can be achieved through extracurricular opportunities. Every year,
Year 5 and 6 attend a week long residential trip. We have a proud tradition
of success in various sports, drama and music. In addition we offer both
Forest School and a wide range of after-school clubs.

Children do best when both the school and home
are working together and we actively encourage
parents to understand and participate in their
child’s learning.
Induction and Open evenings, Parent Meetings at several
points of the year, Annual Reports and an open door policy mean
parents can discuss their child's progress at any time and are kept informed
about their child's achievements at school.
Close links between parents and school are valued highly. We have an
active Parents’ Council in which parents’ representatives can come
together to share ideas and put forward their views. Parent volunteers
are invited into the school to help in the classroom.
We are also very fortunate to have a committed
group of parent volunteers – the Friends of
Welford School (FOWS) – raising funds for
the school and working directly with
our staff to foster a caring environment
in which the children thrive.
Our school is at the heart of a vibrant,
close-knit local community and we
enjoy an excellent relationship with
all of the children and families in our
local villages. We constantly look for
opportunities for the children to make
a positive contribution to the community
close at hand and further afield.
