members of the 1961 Women in Space
Programme. But, one week before
the final phase of training, the
programme was cancelled.
Undeterred, Wally went on to
become America’s first female
aviation safety inspector,
though her dream of being
an astronaut never dimmed.

Commanders will be taking you on a

on the Moon. This race to space will begin
with a powerful rocket, the Saturn IB –
precursor to the iconic Saturn V, the tallest,

brought to operational status, and end
with how humans lived in space.

We work with young women aged
between 11-13, for ten weeks initially,
we deliver ten workshop with the
aim the girls will gain increased
confidence and self esteem,
and a better understanding
of body image, they will be
trained as young Leaders with
the opportunity to volunteer at
the end. The girls will also have
the opportunity to complete a Sports
Recognition Award level one Coaching
qualification.
