Police Reports<br />

Chicago man charged with DUI in <strong>LF</strong><br />

Jose L. Hernandez, 31,<br />

of Chicago, was charged<br />

with DUI of alcohol at<br />

11:38 p.m. on Oct. 5 in<br />

the intersection of Route<br />

41 and Gage Lane in Lake<br />

Forest.<br />

Police responded after<br />

receiving a 911 driving<br />

complaint concerning a<br />

blue Jeep that was driving<br />

all over the road. Officers<br />

located the Jeep and, after<br />

observing several motor<br />

vehicle violations, they<br />

conducted a traffic stop on<br />

the Jeep.<br />

Officers approached the<br />

vehicle and spoke to the<br />

driver, identified as Hernandez,<br />

whom officers<br />

quickly determined was<br />

demonstrating signs of<br />

alcohol impairment. Hernandez<br />

admitted to drinking<br />

beer prior to driving.<br />

He was requested to take<br />

several field sobriety tests<br />

on scene.<br />

Based on Hernandez’s<br />

tests, the officer’s observations,<br />

and prior driving,<br />

Hernandez was arrested<br />

for DUI and transported to<br />

the Public Safety Building<br />

for processing. Hernandez<br />

subsequently was requested<br />

to submit to a chemical<br />

breath test, which resulted<br />

in a reading of 0.146 BAC.<br />

In other police news:<br />

Lake Forest:<br />

Oct. 6:<br />

• William Amor, 52, of<br />

Waukegan, was charged<br />

with a hit and run and<br />

driving with a suspended<br />

driver’s license at 7:25<br />

p.m. in the intersection<br />

of Route 41 and Old Elm<br />

Road. Police responded to<br />

the scene of a traffic crash.<br />

At the scene, police spoke<br />

to the victim who told police<br />

she was involved in a<br />

crash with a black Toyota,<br />

which struck her car from<br />

behind and then left the<br />

scene. Police recovered<br />

the Toyota’s front plate at<br />

the scene and were able to<br />

then contact the registered<br />

owner, identified as Amor,<br />

and have him come to the<br />

police station for questioning.<br />

Police determined that<br />

Amor was in fact the driver<br />

of the Toyota at the time of<br />

the crash, and his driver’s<br />

license was suspended.<br />

• Lee A. Dieonte, 34, of<br />

Chicago, was charged<br />

with speeding 75 mph in a<br />

posted 55 mph speed zone,<br />

driving with a revoked<br />

driver’s license and an active<br />

probation warrant at<br />

8:17 a.m. in the 200 block<br />

of Skokie Highway. An officer<br />

on patrol observed a<br />

silver Nissan speeding 75<br />

mph in a posted 55 mph<br />

zone. Police conducted a<br />

traffic stop on the vehicle<br />

and spoke with the driver,<br />

identified as Lee, concerning<br />

his driving. Lee told<br />

officers he did not have a<br />

driver’s license and “had<br />

never had one”. Lee was<br />

arrested. Officers soon<br />

learned Lee was wanted<br />

on a probation warrant<br />

out of Cook County. Lee<br />

was transported to the<br />

Public Safety Building,<br />

processed, and released<br />

on Lake Forest Police Department<br />

charges. He was<br />

transported to the Lake<br />

County Jail where he will<br />

be held pending transport<br />

to Cook County.<br />

• Carlos C. Alvarado, 36,<br />

of Chicago, was charged<br />

with speeding, possession<br />

of cannabis and possession<br />

of drug paraphernalia<br />

at 3:09 a.m. in the intersection<br />

of Route 41 and<br />

Route 22. Police on patrol<br />

conducted a traffic stop<br />

on a gray Nissan SUV after<br />

observing the vehicle<br />

speeding 65 mph in a<br />

posted 45 mph zone. Officers<br />

approached the vehicle,<br />

spoke to the driver,<br />

identified as Alvarado, and<br />

immediately smelled the<br />

odor of cannabis coming<br />

from the vehicle. A subsequent<br />

search of the vehicle<br />

revealed a metal smoking<br />

pipe with cannabis in it<br />

and a small mason jar containing<br />

cannabis.<br />

• Candace C. Adams, 33,<br />

of Zion, was charged with<br />

driving with a suspended<br />

driver’s license, no vehicle<br />

insurance and expired<br />

registration at 1:55<br />

a.m. in the intersection of<br />

Route 41 and Westleigh<br />

Road. An officer on patrol<br />

conducted a traffic stop<br />

on a gray Chevrolet after<br />

determining the vehicle<br />

registration was expired.<br />

The officer made contact<br />

with the driver, identified<br />

as Adams, and soon determined<br />

she was driving<br />

on a suspended driver’s license,<br />

and she did not have<br />

insurance on her vehicle.<br />

Lake Bluff:<br />

Oct. 5:<br />

• Identity theft was reported<br />

at 3:09 p.m. in the Public<br />

Safety Building.<br />

• A two-vehicle property<br />

damage accident was reported<br />

at 3:51 p.m. in the<br />

intersection of Park Lane<br />

and Green Bay Road.<br />
