Police Reports
Chicago man charged with DUI in LF
Jose L. Hernandez, 31,
of Chicago, was charged
with DUI of alcohol at
11:38 p.m. on Oct. 5 in
the intersection of Route
41 and Gage Lane in Lake
Forest.
Police responded after
receiving a 911 driving
complaint concerning a
blue Jeep that was driving
all over the road. Officers
located the Jeep and, after
observing several motor
vehicle violations, they
conducted a traffic stop on
the Jeep.
Officers approached the
vehicle and spoke to the
driver, identified as Hernandez,
whom officers
quickly determined was
demonstrating signs of
alcohol impairment. Hernandez
admitted to drinking
beer prior to driving.
He was requested to take
several field sobriety tests
on scene.
Based on Hernandez’s
tests, the officer’s observations,
and prior driving,
Hernandez was arrested
for DUI and transported to
the Public Safety Building
for processing. Hernandez
subsequently was requested
to submit to a chemical
breath test, which resulted
in a reading of 0.146 BAC.
In other police news:
Lake Forest:
Oct. 6:
• William Amor, 52, of
Waukegan, was charged
with a hit and run and
driving with a suspended
driver’s license at 7:25
p.m. in the intersection
of Route 41 and Old Elm
Road. Police responded to
the scene of a traffic crash.
At the scene, police spoke
to the victim who told police
she was involved in a
crash with a black Toyota,
which struck her car from
behind and then left the
scene. Police recovered
the Toyota’s front plate at
the scene and were able to
then contact the registered
owner, identified as Amor,
and have him come to the
police station for questioning.
Police determined that
Amor was in fact the driver
of the Toyota at the time of
the crash, and his driver’s
license was suspended.
• Lee A. Dieonte, 34, of
Chicago, was charged
with speeding 75 mph in a
posted 55 mph speed zone,
driving with a revoked
driver’s license and an active
probation warrant at
8:17 a.m. in the 200 block
of Skokie Highway. An officer
on patrol observed a
silver Nissan speeding 75
mph in a posted 55 mph
zone. Police conducted a
traffic stop on the vehicle
and spoke with the driver,
identified as Lee, concerning
his driving. Lee told
officers he did not have a
driver’s license and “had
never had one”. Lee was
arrested. Officers soon
learned Lee was wanted
on a probation warrant
out of Cook County. Lee
was transported to the
Public Safety Building,
processed, and released
on Lake Forest Police Department
charges. He was
transported to the Lake
County Jail where he will
be held pending transport
to Cook County.
• Carlos C. Alvarado, 36,
of Chicago, was charged
with speeding, possession
of cannabis and possession
of drug paraphernalia
at 3:09 a.m. in the intersection
of Route 41 and
Route 22. Police on patrol
conducted a traffic stop
on a gray Nissan SUV after
observing the vehicle
speeding 65 mph in a
posted 45 mph zone. Officers
approached the vehicle,
spoke to the driver,
identified as Alvarado, and
immediately smelled the
odor of cannabis coming
from the vehicle. A subsequent
search of the vehicle
revealed a metal smoking
pipe with cannabis in it
and a small mason jar containing
cannabis.
• Candace C. Adams, 33,
of Zion, was charged with
driving with a suspended
driver’s license, no vehicle
insurance and expired
registration at 1:55
a.m. in the intersection of
Route 41 and Westleigh
Road. An officer on patrol
conducted a traffic stop
on a gray Chevrolet after
determining the vehicle
registration was expired.
The officer made contact
with the driver, identified
as Adams, and soon determined
she was driving
on a suspended driver’s license,
and she did not have
insurance on her vehicle.
Lake Bluff:
Oct. 5:
• Identity theft was reported
at 3:09 p.m. in the Public
Safety Building.
• A two-vehicle property
damage accident was reported
at 3:51 p.m. in the
intersection of Park Lane
and Green Bay Road.
