code was introduced in 1991 following re-unification. Registrations for the Stadt (city) are in the format GR-AA 1 to
ZZ 999. Registrations were also issued for the Kreis (county) in the format GR-A 1 to Z 1000 however in December
1994 this area was amalgamated with NY – Niesky and WSW – Weißwasser to form NOL – Niederschlesischer
Oberlausitzkreis in Görlitz.
