Drama
Frankenstein
by Mary Shelley, Adapted for Stage by Philip Pullman
Hayward Theatre
Tuesday 20 – Wednesday 21 November
7pm
Admission FREE
Robert Walton, an English Captain, whose boat
is trapped in ice north of Russia, discovers a
mysterious man travelling across the snowy
tundra on a dog-pulled sledge. Walton retells the
story of this man, Victor Frankenstein.
Frankenstein, a young scientist, brings a
gruesome body to life. Cast out into a hostile
world, Frankenstein’s creature searches for
his true identity. Vengeful, dangerous and in
blood-thirsty pursuit of his maker, the creature
threatens to destroy Frankenstein and the lives of
everyone he loves.
Since it was first published in 1818, Frankenstein
was rapidly reimagined as a stage play and there
have been more than 100 adaptations, satires,
reworkings and productions for tv and film, and
many more on the stage.
In an electrifying performance of Mary Shelley’s
classic gothic tale, the King’s Company present
Philip Pullman’s adaptation, full of shocking
twists and turns, sure to keep audiences on the
edge of their seats as it brings Frankenstein (and
his monster) to life!
This production is directed by Kathryn Sudbury.

Wednesday 5 – 7 December 7.30pm
Saturday 8 December 3pm & 7.30pm
Adults £10 Children £7
The King’s Company return to bring you this
global phenomenon that has wowed audiences
for over 40 years!
Jesus Christ Superstar was first recorded in 1970
as a rock opera, borrowing from the Gospels of
Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, it tells the story
of the final days of Jesus Christ’s life.
After the record’s release, the opera was staged
on Broadway in 1971 and released as a film in
1973, among the first of its genre, has since seen
many stage productions around the world.
With music by Grammy and Academy Award
winner, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and lyrics
by Oscar winner, Tim Rice, the story is told
primarily by Judas Iscariot, the disciple who
ultimately betrays Jesus, through the heavy use of
1970s slang.
Featuring the much loved favourite songs, heaven
on their minds, what’s the buzz/strange thing
mystifying and the infectious title number, this
extremely popular play has become something of
a superstar itself!
