Local group donates to Operation Care Package

Who Care of Will County
During the Sept. 11 meeting
of 100+ Women Who
Care of Will County, Operation
Care Package was nominated
along with two other
local charities.
After hearing members
present on the charities
and voting, Operation Care
Package won the majority
vote. With 40 women
in the group each making a
$100 donation, Operation
Care Package was awarded
$4,000.
Operation Care Package
was presented the checks
on Oct. 10. Operation Care
Package is dedicated to the
mission that no hero serving
the nation should be
forgotten. Their goal is to
support Soldiers, Marines,
Sailors and Airmen through
care packages and letters of
encouragement. The charity
mails care packages to
deployed members of the
U.S. armed forces who
would normally not receive
mail. Volunteers pack the
supplies into flat-rate boxes
each week and ship them all
over the world. Many go to
places such as Afghanistan,
Kosovo, Guam and even
ships at sea.

In addition to Democratic incumbent Daniel W. Lipinski
and Republican challenger Arthur Jones, three individuals
made the list of eligible write-in candidates for the U.S.
Congressional District 3 race in Illinois, according to Cook,
Will and DuPage County Clerk’s websites. They are Justin
Hanson, of La Grange; Richard Mayers, of Chicago; and
Kenneth Yerkes, of Oak Lawn. If write-in candidates elect
to respond, their questionnaires are to be featured at
