Ialways end up trying to complete
this issue, whilst wishing to forget
that I’ve also to get Jan /Feb 2019
done before the Christmas break and
getting companies to think about
Valentine’s Day in November, is no
easy task. But just where has this year
gone as it’s flown by? Blessed with one
of the most beautiful summers we’ve
had for many a year, it’s wonderful
to see so many tourists still here in
Wales as I write this in September.
The weather has given our tourist
sector the biggest boost and it’s just
what was wanted and needed! I have
to start trying to plan Christmas gifts
in July and realise how out of sync
I am when everyone else is talking
about sun cream and spray tans. One
bonus of coming out with a Christmas
issue in November is that it gives our
readers time to sort out their Christmas
shopping. It goes without saying
that I hope our readers support our
advertisers as the quality of our arts
and crafts makers and our Welsh food
and drink producers are first class.
Most of them have websites and are
quite used to dealing with mail order
which really does make life easier.
Please don’t automatically think of
buying from the ‘big boys’, when
instead you can support businesses
here in Wales, many of which are
micro companies. The additional
bonus is that money spent in Wales,
stays in Wales and is a much needed
boost to our economy. But if online
shopping isn’t for you you’ll find lots
of local traders at Christmas Fairs and
festivals.
We all have tricky people to buy for
over the festive period but why not look
at weekend breaks from our ‘Stay A
While’ pages or talk to our ‘Where To
Eat’ advertisers and arrange a voucher
so you can treat family or friends
to a lunch or dinner. Forgive the
blatant plug, but my final suggestion
is a subscription to Welsh Country
magazine which is a gift that carries on
giving through the year. Just visit our
website, book your subscription and
we’ll do the rest. As a publisher we are
reliant on advertisers and I must say
a huge thank you to them as they are
so supportive to us, in fact some have
been with us since we first published in
2005 – now that’s loyalty!
We’ve had some great feedback
on our revamp of Welsh Country
magazine and I’m sure we’ll keep
playing and tweaking as Welsh
Country was long overdue for a
facelift. Let me know what you think,
well maybe only if you love the new
look!
