Please contact the church office for more information. Mailing Address Updates Love Offering QUESTION: What is this “Love Offering”: I am hearing about? ANSWER: For years, First Baptist Church and its members have recognized the staff and workers at FBC with a gift at Christmas time. These may not be people you know or even come in contact with on a regular basis. Folks like Dawn and Michael who keep our buildings clean and repaired; like Kyle who publishes the monthly T.I.E. and who is doing the print orders for the Capital Campaign and keeps our computers running; like Kathy who is the secretary and manages the food pantry for the Fellowship Fund; like Sharon and Barbara who manages the financial end of the work; like Alison who is the director for children activities; like Leslie and Dan who proved the beautiful music for our worship; like Lori who directs the choirs and provides directions to the Senior Adult and Ageless Adventurers; like Rev. Kyle who is the guidance for the teenagers and young adult and helps Kristin; and like Rev Dr. Kristin who leads us all with great love and patience. So, when you see the “Love Offering” envelopes in your envelope packet or at the two narthexes; remember this is a way you can say “thank you” to the workers at FBC, both visible and behind the scenes. These gifts will be distributed in January 2019. In hopes of keeping our church directory as upto-date as possible, we would like to encourage each member of the church to update their mailing address by visiting the church website and filling out a brief online form via this link: http://www.fbcwinc.org/about-us/change-ofaddress-form/ . The TIE that binds the church & home together Volume 79, Issue 11 Page 9 White Christmas Program The “White Christmas” program at First Baptist Church assists community members in the Winchester area with special needs at Christmas time. Typically, we provide families with boxes of food, as well as toys and clothing for children in the household. We encourage members of our church family to make referrals to our program. You are our eyes and ears in the community. Perhaps you have a neighbor, friend, or family member struggling with finances this year who would benefit from our assistance. We are trying to reach persons who are not likely to solicit or receive assistance from other organizations. Referrals, “adoptions,” and deliveries will be handled with the utmost discretion. If you would like to refer someone, speak to a member of the White Christmas Committee. Members of the White Christmas Committee are Susan Jones, Kim Ball, and Jae Hinson. PLEASE make your referrals by November 4 so we will have time to adequately plan for their needs. White Christmas Opportunities Important White Christmas Dates: · Adoption Sundays: November 18 and November 25. December 2 if needed. Please adopt a child, teenager, or homebound adult and purchase gifts. · Workday: Saturday, December 8 from 10 AM - 1 PM in the CEB. We need help organizing and loading food into boxes, preparing fruit bags, and wrapping devotionals. · White Christmas Service: Sunday, December 9 at 6 PM. Please bring your gifts before or to this service. · Distribution Day: Wednesday, December 12. Help distribute gifts and food to families in need or deliver gifts to our Homebound. 9:30 AM - 2 PM. Pizza lunch provided. ** - We are collecting medium sized cardboard boxes to hold food. Boxes may be placed on the lower level of the church, directly across from the elevator.
