The Rye Retreat is proud to
introduce their newest Style
Director, Petar Dragicevic. Originally
from Auckland, New Zealand where he
was Artistic Director for 20 plus salons,
he was drawn to the UK – in particular
London, for its fashion and creativity.
Based in Clerkenwell, his loyal clientele
was diverse, ranging from business
executives to artists.
Petar was a L’Oréal colour trophy fi nalist for
two consecutive years; his editorial work
includes Vogue, I.D, Dazed & Confused
and he has worked at both London and
Paris fashion week. He was head stylist on
several music videos – including Robbie
Williams and Kylie Minogue ‘Kids’. Petar ran
his own business in London, specialising
in Aveda hair colouring. However London
life began to lose its appeal and he and
his partner moved to St. Leonards last
year looking for a better work/life balance
and a bit more of the ‘good life’. After a
long time commuting back to London he
made the big decision of leaving the city
for good and is now at The Rye Retreat.
They’re both loving their new lives beside
the seaside and hoping to get a Miniature
Schnauzer which works perfectly with his
new found love of the outdoors – long
walks are his new thing, as long as there
is a warm pub at the end of it! The only
downside to country life is the diffi culty of
getting hold of good sushi and a decent
espresso martini – any recommendations
welcome!
Sally Williams has been Petar’s client for 20
years, she says “I cannot envisage anyone
other than Petar ever doing my hair! I book
all my appointments in advance and now
even travel from London to Rye. He really is
that good! My look evolves subtly which I
love – if I’m not feeling courageous enough
for a dramatic change, he can tweak my
cut to perfection. I always feel modern and
sexy – well at least my hair does, even if
the rest of me doesn’t! I have never had a
bad haircut from him, it looks good for the
full 6 weeks and is so easy to manage.
I look forward to my appointments with
Petar – he feels more like a friend, we
always end up giggling like kids.”

and as exciting as it is doing a total
transformation on someone, small
changes can make a big diff erence. Hair
should be a journey and change with
the seasons and when you are going
through diff erent phases of your life.
In New Zealand I developed new
cutting and colouring techniques
and trends straight from catwalk
to wearable everyday hair.”
