Improving Performance Workshops
MQW5 workshop sessions will be comprised of small group meetings,
each with a panel of industry specialists where delegates can ask technical
questions of the panelists and discuss methods and technologies which can
improve performance in selected processes.
MONDAY 19 MARCH 2012
Billet Casting This knowledgeable panel will happily
answer questions on any matters related
to achieving the best performances
possible from conventional and hot top
casting systems.
Coatings Discuss the value and benefits which
coatings provide in casting and an insight
into how and why to select the correct
coating formulation for your process.
Continuous Sheet Casting All types of sheet casting will be
discussed in this session, along with the
best practices, metal delivery and quality,
casting tip designs and release agents to
give the best results.
Degassing If your hydrogen, alkali metals and
inclusions are too high for your customer
specifications, join this discussion to see
what you can do about improving your
processes.
Dross / Salt Recycling Due to demand for cost savings and
environmental concerns, recovery of
aluminium dross becomes increasingly
important. Ask our panel how your
process can take advantage of recycling
techniques.
Filtration If you need to know what type, size and
grade of filtration system would be best
for your particular casting processes, then
come ask our panel of experts.
Furnace Operations Are you having problems with long
furnace cycle times, shortage of remelt
capacity, high melt loss and poor metal
cleanliness? Come and ask our panel
what you should do about it.
Furnace Rebuild Are you getting the best performance
from your furnaces and refractories? Do
you need help to decide what you can do
to improve this vital process? Attend this
session and ask the experts.
Launders Our panel of experts will discuss
refractory selection, heat loss, turbulence,
design, installation and maintenance
of these systems in order to maximise
performance.
Slab Casting Our panelists will discuss all issues
related to the production of high quality
rolling slab—including level control,
metal distribution, lubrication, glassfibre
products and skim dam selection.
