To study in Australia international students are required to meet the English
language requirements to fulfil the entry criteria for application of the chosen
program and receive a student visa successfully.
Based on the English language tests score international students can apply to
study in the abroad countries.
IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge English: Advanced
(CAE), PTE Academic and OET are five English Language tests that are
accepted in Australia.
The English language proficiency score requirements may vary depending on
the institution, level of study (Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD), student’s country of
citizenship and if the student is planning to complete an ELICOS course after
arriving in Australia. All these factors help the students in receiving a successful
visa to study abroad.

‣ In some cases, students might have higher score requirement to gain entry to
the program, depending on the requirement of the university and the
programs.
‣ IELTS Overall Score of 6.5 (no bands less than 6), TOEFL test score of 79, PTE with
overall score of 58-64 (with no section less than 50), University of Cambridge -
Advanced (CAE): Overall score of 176 and no single band less than 169 and VU
English - English for Academic Purposes (EAP) (Level 6): Completed.
‣ The test such as IELTS, TOEFL, PTE and CAE must be taken not be more than two
years before commencing the Masters in Australia.
‣ Exemption to these tests is also provided by some of the Australian universities.

In 2016, a new simplified student visa framework (SSVF) was executed in
Australia that includes an introduction of new immigration risk framework that is
used to decide the amount of evidence a student needs to provide with their
application to study in Australia.
Students who are assessed at the low immigration risk level are eligible to meet
the English language requirements for the student visa application by providing
a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE).
Students who are assessed at the high immigration risk level will also require to
provide evidence of English language proficiency with an acceptable test
score.
