THE GLENCOE ANCHOR
Chicago Bears backup
quarterback buys home in
Glencoe
Khalil Mack isn’t the
only Bear with a den in
Glencoe.
The Chicago Bears migratory
backup quarterback
Chase Daniel and his
wife, Hillary, have used
a land trust to purchase
a newly-built Nantucket
style home in Glencoe for
$1,489,000.
If the couple decides to
go on a night on the town
in Glencoe and have a few
drinks at the Tudor Wine
Bar they might bump into
Mack, the star linebacker
who earlier this year used
a land trust to shell out
$3,750,000 to buy a 6,100
square-foot newly-built
mansion.
Both players are in their
first season with the Bears.
Daniel’s 12-room home
occupies 4,237 square feet
and is located on a 0.36-
acre lot on a cul-de-sac. It
has five bedrooms, a kitchen
with a Cambria quartz
island, a master suite,
double walk-in closets, 5.1
bathrooms, an oversized
marble shower, lower level
guest quarters and a spacious
recreation room.
There is hardwood flooring
throughout the ground
floor. The home also has a
gas fireplace and an outdoor
grill.
In addition to a heated
two-and-a-half car garage,
the home has a driveway
that can accommodate 10
cars.
The original home on the
lot was sold for $485,000
in November 2013 and
then was demolished.
According to the Chicago
Tribune, the newly-built
home was first
listed in May 2017 for
$1,849,000. The final asking
price prior to the sale
to Daniel and his wife was
$1,549,000 in February.
THE WINNETKA CURRENT
Winnetka Library Patio
Project to begin fall 2019
The newly-renovated
Winnetka Library is going
to expand to the great outdoors.
Library director Rebecca
Wolf, communications
and marketing director
Sarah Quish, library board
president Brian Johnson
and fellow trustees Jean-
Paul Ruiz-Funes, Kathleen
Reichert, Suzie Shoup and
Keta McCarthy rolled out
the welcome mat to the
public for three hours on
Nov. 7 at a reception previewing
the Winnetka Library
Patio Project that is
expected to begin in the
fall of 2019.
“About a year ago we
had a committee made
up of some community
members, the trustees
and our staff get involved
and starting talking about
our outdoor space,” Wolf
said. “At the time we also
were looking at our indoor
space for our $2.1 million
renovation. We talked
about the outdoor space
and decided to come back
to it after the renovation
was completed.”
The renovation was
completed and the library
reopened on June 23.
Then, the committee began
brainstorming about
the expansion outdoors.
“The idea is to create
a gateway to our library
from Green Bay Road into
Winnetka,” Wolf added.
“We want the outdoor
space to highlight the features
of the mid-century
modern building and also
show the life that’s in the
building. We’ll have things
like the blue stone paving
that are true to our building.
“We’re trying to make
sure we have green space
to emphasize our park-ish
nature. When you’re in
our study room you’ll see
a great open field. A lot
of our (interior) remodeling
was about creating an
organic feeling. This is another
step toward that. I’ve
not seen a library remodeled
to have both indoor
and outdoor space.”
THE HIGHLAND PARK LANDMARK
Paul Frank retains seat on
Lake County Board
Highland Park resident
Paul Frank defeated his
challenger, Republican
Becky Zeidman, to keep
his seat representing District
11 on the Lake County
Board for a second term.
“I’m feeling very grateful
to the voters for the
honor of being able to
serve on the county board
for another term,” Frank
said.
He received 75.26 percent
of the vote, with
11,766 votes, compared to
Zeidman’s 24.74 percent
with 3,867 votes.
Frank previously served
as a member of the Highland
Park City Council,
and left his seat on the
council to run for the
county board in 2016.
Frank said that he is
“happy” with the work that
he has accomplished in his
first term, including being
vocal about sustainability
issues, and attempting to
make the county more sustainable.
“I’m really happy with
some of the progress we
made in terms of sustainability
initiatives,” he said.
