Magor has built expertise over 50 years of supporting a diverse range of manufacturing

PAST, PRESENT
AND THE FUTURE
The Past
Founded in 1961, Nidum Precision Tooling supported leading manufacturing operations in South
Wales and across the UK. This legacy is a no-nonsense, practical engineer to engineer approach
focused on getting the job done.
In 2001 we relocated to 10,000 sq feet of customised tool room facilities in Resolven. First class road
links mean we are accessible to clients across the UK. In 2009 following a major upgrade of the premises,
Nidum was joined onsite by sister company Magor Designs.
In summer 2013 – as part of our drive to offer a design led manufacturing solution, Nidum was
integrated into Magor Designs Limited.

The Present
We employ a team of 35 time served designers and
toolmakers – most with over 15 years of experience. We
continually seek to develop them and the next generation.
We are continually recruiting new Apprentices under the
Jobs Growth Wales Initiative.
Whilst recognised as experts in the automotive sector for
special purpose machines and tooling and gauging, our
experience spans industry sectors from agriculture, through
aerospace, defence, canning, glass, packaging and paper, mining,
oil, gas and petrochemical.
We enjoy effective relationships with a portfolio of world
class manufacturing partners and are a tier 1 or equivalent
supplier with key clients, including Tenneco-Walker, Ford,
Jaguar-Landrover, British Airways, Robert Bosch, Calsonic
Kansei, Senior Technologies, TRW Group and other leading
manufacturing names.
The Future
We are committed to improving and sustaining a centre of design
and engineering excellence - along with associated electrical and
automation capabilities. We have established a robotics lab that
can build, develop and display robotic automation to clients and
partners.

OUR

Engineering Design
Honed expertise combined with
the latest 3D design tools enables us
to deliver outstanding design.
For engineering designers, we favour
former toolmakers – experience in
constructing the right outcome brings a
practical edge to our solutions.
We work with AutoCad Inventor
3D, but can translate and present
work compatible with systems
including CATIA, SOLIDWORKS,
IGIS, STEP and PRO ENGINEER.
3D brings solutions to life – speeding
development and sign off processes.
Your project will be assigned to a
specified Designer. Your brief can be
discussed online or face to face – we
can provide a design solution for
manufacture or we will agree a design
and project management programme
to suit you.
Special Purpose Machines
From individual work stations to
complete production lines, we can
create a practical, custom solution for
your requirements from greenfield
builds, modifications & enhancements
to a total refurbishment.
We can provide you with a design and
mechanical outcome and incorporate
electrical and automation solutions.

Robotics
Magor is a System Partner to the Kuka
Robot Group. As a pioneer in
robotics and robotic arm technology,
KUKA is one of the leading suppliers
and manufacturers of robotic systems
worldwide.
KUKA offers a unique and wide
range of industrial robots and
robot systems, covering all common
payload categories and robot types.
We can design and build a robotic cell
that is perfectly customized for your
application and industry – or design a
custom robotic system for your unique
needs.
For standard or shelf-mounted
robots and heavy-duty versions,
mounting is possible on the floor or
on the ceiling, making them
multifunctional and flexible.
Due to the modular structure
of KUKA robots, reconfiguration
for other tasks is quick and easy.

schedules and pricing.

Gauging
We can design and manufacture a wide
range of gauge types and forms from
a Master Gauge or Check Gauge to
an integrated in line solution. Our
gauging solutions may be mechanical
or encompass electrical and pneumatic
systems.
Where appropriate we use trusted
partners who will undertake specialist
parts of the manufacturing process.
We have experience in photo
recognition based control systems
which offer significant enhancements
to product control and monitoring
processes.
We can make whatever you can imagine!
We invest in our people, our processes, Quality Management and IT
platforms in addition to plant and machinery.
We are well versed in bespoke compliance and reporting
requirements of specific clients. We offer a sub-contact Quality
Management capability to the aerospace sector.
Our CMM facilities can be made available on client premises.
The level and formality of review and reporting can flex to your
requirements.
Our role is to identify and solve your challenge. On the occasions
we can’t facilitate the full solution in-house we have a network of proven
partners whom we call upon.
Our capabilities cover CNC milling and turning, spark erosion, wire
erosion, conventional multi-axis milling and surface grinding, welding
combined with traditional hand, bench and fabrication skills.

tailored, appropriate and durable.
As a KUKA Partner Magor has full access to KUKA’s
technical, training and support hub in the West
Midlands. Whilst we can provide a robotics demonstration
in Resolven, we encourage clients to visit the superb
KUKA facility with us to appreciate the breadth and
depth of resources available. For robot novices it also
provides the opportunity to get hands on.
KUKA offer a technical support platform that draws
upon Worldwide knowledge and experience. Magor both
contributes to and pulls from this hub in developing your
solution. We verify our designs and simulations through
software supported by KUKA experts.
KUKA hosts a first class training school offering both
custom and accredited training. Magor always provides
training as part of a commissioning however, if you wish
to embed further competency, you can, through the
Magor/KUKA partnership, access manufacturer training
programmes direct.
Magor installations benefit from a full engineering call
out, support and service capability operated by KUKA
directly. You can be assured that an installation
from Magor is robustly supported, at a level to meet
your requirements, directly by the manufacturer’s team
for many years to come.
