SYDNEY: Counter
Terror Police have revealed a
“personal grievance” was
behind the alleged terror hit
list found at a Sydney
University which led to the
arrest of a Sri Lankan man.
Australian cricketer
Usman Khawaja’s brother,
Arsalan, was yesterday
arrested in Parramatta by
police from the Joint Counter
Terrorism Team. Arsalan
Khawaja was granted bail
during an appearance this
afternoon at Parramatta
Local Court.
Under his bail conditions,
Khawaja must surrender his
passport and not approach
within 100m of campuses of
the University of NSW. He
must also report to a police
station three times a week.
Assistant Commissioner
Mick Willing yesterday confirmed
authorities are alleging
Khawaja is responsible
for setting up Mohamed
Kamer Nilar Nizamdeen, 25,
with a forged notebook,
which contained a plot to kill
former prime minister
Malcolm Turnbull and former
foreign minister Julie
Bishop.
“What we will be alleging
is that he was set up in a
planned and calculated manner,
motivated in part by personal
grievance”. “We have
no information to suggest
there is an ongoing threat to
the community. “We can
never be complacent because
the terrorist threat in this
country continues to be very
real. We had to act early at the
time, given the nature of the
million on his 25 private
visits abroad on government
expense and the case
was referred to National
former president and
Pakistan Peoples’ Party
(PPP) co-chairman Asif
Ali Zardari’s Swiss
accounts have US$ 72 million,
adding that following
Accountability
the JIT report in Omni
case, the government
could knock the doors of
Swiss banks.
He said that former
prime minister and
Pakistan Muslim League-
Nawaz (PML-N) supremo
Nawaz Sharif spent Rs250
Australian cricketer's brother 'forged
terror kill list because of grievance'
threats that were contained in
that notebook.”
Khawaja, 39, was arrested
on Tuesday and taken to
Parramatta Police Station,
where he has been charged
by Counter Terror Police in
relation to the alleged attempt
to pervert justice and the forgery
of documents.
NSW Police cameras captured
the moment he was
stopped by officers in his
Ford Mustang GT and taken
into custody. On August 31,
Nizamdeen was arrested after
the notebook was located at
the University of New South
Wales and charged with creating
a document in connection
with preparing for a terrorist
act.
He then spent four weeks
behind bars before being
released on bail in
September, after it was
revealed he was incorrectly
imprisoned. Hand-writing
experts found differences
between the script in the
notebook and Nizamdeen's
own writing and following
"definitive advice" yesterday
the charges were formally
withdrawn. Nizamdeen is
now seeking legal costs and
compensation.
said that she now sees it as
a ‘blessing’.
After years of dating,
called it quits in 2016.
While Ranbir had opened
up about the break-up and
shooting together after
they parted ways, Katrina
had maintained silence.
However, the actor who
will next be seen in Bharat
alongside Salman Khan, in
a recent interview with
Vogue said, “I now see it
as a blessing because I was
able to recognise my patterns,
thought processes
and things that I had been
so sure of my whole life. I
could see them from a
whole different perspective.”
She further told the
magazine that it was one of
the few times in her life
that she only had herself to
focus on and owing to that,
she realised that she didn't
really know herself. “It’s
like a period of not knowing,
a period of being
uncomfortable because
you’re seeing yourself in
your raw form without
embellishments and then
accepting that you don’t
really know who you are,”
she said.
Regarding the notion
approaches me with a lack
of warmth or affection, the
wall goes up.”
Katrina also termed
you make at that time
in your life, it’s the best
Now, it’s hindsight. Of
