SC orders formation of new
JIT to probe Model Town case
ISLAMABAD: Supreme
Court (SC) on Wednesday
has disposed of Pakistan
Awami Tehreek’s (PAT) plea
seeking formation of new
joint investigation team
(JIT) to probe Model Town
carnage and directed the
provincial government to
reconstitute the team.
A five-member larger
bench headed by Chief
Justice of Pakistan (CJP)
Mian Saqib Nisar and comprising
Justice Asif Saeed
Khosa, JusticeAzmat Saeed,
Justice Faisal Arab and
Justice Mazhar Alam Mian
heard the case.
During the proceedings,
PAT chief broke into tears
and said that the victims of
Model Town incident are
waiting for the justice from
past four years. The previous
Joint Investigation Team
(JIT) was formed without
taking us into confidence, he
added. Meanwhile, the
Punjab advocate general
said that the government is
not having any issue over
establishment of new JIT

Addressing the ceremony,
Foreign Minister
Qureshi highlighted the
generous hospitality
extended by the people of
Pakistan to their Afghan
brothers and sister during
the last four decades. At
any given point during
these years, on average
over three million
Afghans have been living
in Pakistan. He stated that
Pakistan had ensured education
facilities to the
Afghan refugees at par
with its own citizens and
will continue to invest in
the education of the
refugee children as it is
the real investment for a
prosperous future of
Afghanistan. He also
underscored the importance
of trilateral cooperation
between Pakistan-
China-Afghanistan for
peace in Afghanistan and
the region, deepening
Katrina said, "I don’t like
to blame other people, the
responsibility is on me…
but the trigger is how you
approach me. I’m very
sensitive, and if someone
approaches me with a lack
of warmth or affection, the
wall goes up.”
Katrina also termed
regret as “the single-most
useless emotion on the
planet". “Whatever decision
you make at that time
in your life, it’s the best
decision you could have
made at that moment.
