WELCOME TO CMC!
We often hear the saying “If these walls could talk” when trying to relay how impactful a place, event or
interaction is to our lives. At the CMC, our walls do talk, every day, with every event, every market and
with each interaction that etches itself into the long history of our building. It’s palpable upon entering
our grand lobby. Gradually those whispers become distinct voices that forever guide an experience.
Each story is different, but they all weave a similar conversation sparked by an idea that morphed into
the dream that is now reality. The CMC has been the heart of the DTLA fashion intersection for more
than 50 years and this year marks the beginning of our journey to “come into focus”, setting the intention
for years of dreamers to come.
Over the past few years, downtown Los Angeles has caught the attention of many Angelinos as the new
“it” place offering a unique juxtaposition of past, present and future. On any given day, conversations
involving rooftop plans at The Ace followed by dinner at DAMA can be overheard, whether by a
financial analyst, fashion creatives or entertainment agents. We are excited to be a conduit in moving a
collective vision forward into the future as we begin renovations this fall. The CMC is already weaved
into the experiences and hearts of many through its revered past and we are certain as we begin the
impressive rebuild, our future’s story is one for the books.
We wish everyone reading this letter a fulfilling experience within the wall of our home, the CMC and
our beloved fashion district. Take a moment and peek into some of our favorite places on Pages 140-
144. Walk the extra block, meet the friend for coffee and soak in all that surrounds us.
As the famous comedian Billy Connolly said, “I love Los Angeles. It reinvents itself every two days.”
We look forward to the next two days!
- THE CMC TEAM
