(Page 6) From the editor Following through is important Megan Bernard megan@glencoeanchor.com This week, you’ll read about a group of New Trier students that reunited a family with a Japanese flag. But it wasn’t any flag; it was found at the high school when crews were preparing for the construction project in 2015 at the Winnetka Campus. When they found the flag, I remembered publishing an article on the unique discovery. Afterward, I honestly didn’t think too much about it in recent years. For the past three years, faculty and Japanese language students have been working to find the owner of the flag. Unfortunately, the owner died so they took it a step further and located his family. You can read the full feature on in our Life & Arts section. This is a story of perseverance, and I am happy to report a happy ending to the discovery at New Trier. They certainly could have just found the flag and framed it, but this group followed through and returned the piece of history. Congrats to them!
