Destigmatizing Mental Heath and Charting a Brighter Future
The Norman Vincent Peale Awards Gala...
Celebrates "Mental & Spiritual
Health: A Brilliant History, a Bold &
Positive Future." We like to tell the
story of our founders, Dr. Norman
Vincent Peale, author of The Power
of Positive Thinking, and eminent
psychiatrist Dr. Smiley Blanton, who
were among the first to combine
psychology and spirituality. AND, we
love to tell the emerging story of our
bold future. Our Counseling Center
recently expanded to a new second
floor, enabling us to see another
1,550 New Yorkers each year.
Destigmatizes mental health challenges.
Last year for example, we honored Ron
Powers, author of No One Cares About
Crazy People: The Chaos and Heartbreak
of Mental Health in America. His book is a
reminder to respect the dignity of those
who suffer and to have faith in the
resilience of the human heart.
Raises funds that are crucial to our promise to
turn no one way due to an inability to
pay. With our expansion, the number of people
looking for help from Blanton-Peale to face
depression, anxiety, thoughts of suicide, and
trauma of all sorts will grow from 100 to 200
per day. The math is simple: with twice the
number of clients, twice the fundraising is
needed.
