ADMISSION & SCHOLARSHIP
APPLICATION PROCESS
1. Submit Application and $55 application fee at www.suu.edu/applyinternational.
2. Provide proof of English Proficiency via one of the below:
• TOEFL – 71 IBT or higher
• IELTS – 6.0 or higher
• iTEP- 4.1 or higher
• Successful graduation from SUU’s Intensive English Program or other approved English
language program.
3. Submit transcripts from each high school, college, and university attended.
• HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS – 2.0 GPA or higher on a 4.0 U.S. scale.
• TRANSFER STUDENTS – 2.0 GPA or higher on a 4.0 U.S. scale. Submit foreign college
transcript evaluation from an authorized service (www.globaleval.org, www.educei.com,
www.foreigntranscripts.com, www.wes.org).
4. Provide a copy of the first page of your passport (with photo).
5. Demonstrate funds are available for two academic semesters at SUU, verified by
a bank statement or other official documentation.

Scholarships are given based on academic merit on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Not all students will be awarded a scholarship.

AMERICAN LANGUAGE & CULTURE CENTER
ABOUT OUR INTENSIVE ENGLISH PROGRAM, ALCC
Our Intensive English Program offers a dynamic learning community to English as a second language (ESL) students
by helping them to achieve academic English proficiency and preparation for university, and by offering support to
ESL students for their continued development and improvement of their English language skills.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Application + $55 USD application fee, high school transcripts, copy of passport, and financial statement. Language
test score report is optional; students who wish to be placed before arrival must submit test scores.
PLACEMENT
Students need to submit (1) official TOEFL, IELTS, OR iTEP score report and (2) high school or college transcript which
includes a GPA to be placed in advance. Students may also elect to take a placement exam upon arrival without the
aforementioned documents. The exam is free for first-time students.
CURRICULUM
We offer several levels of classes, ranging from beginner to university-level.

The professors at SUU are very
kind, they do a lot of interaction
with students in the classroom,
and students and professors know
each other well. There are not a
lot of Chinese students so far, so
being here will help you to improve
your English listening and speaking
skills and learn some local cultural
traditions. Cedar City is a safe and
quiet place, and if you like nature
or outdoor activities, you have to
come here.

I have been experiencing a great
education and tremendous value
at SUU. One thing that I like about
SUU is its small class sizes where
students get personal attention
from professors. I like the fact that

inclusive and there are many things

I first heard about SUU from friends and
professors who talked about the school’s
good pre-med program. Once I visited
the school I was impressed by the care
I received from the staff. They were so
friendly and welcoming I felt I belonged
to the school already. Class sizes are
small and I like the fact that I can get full
attention from my instructors. The school
location is close to all sorts of fun such
as Zion National Park, skiing and Las
Vegas. I was never very interested in the
outdoors but I didn’t know what I was
missing until I came to study at SUU.
